Pew Research Center reposted this
Congress may represent the US population but that doesn't mean it *looks* like the US population when it comes to characteristics like gender, race, ethnicity and religion. The biennial "Faith on the Hill" report from Pew Research Center makes that clear: 87% of lawmakers in the new 119th Congress identify as Christian, while fewer than 1% identify as religiously unaffiliated. Among US adults overall, by comparison, far fewer are Christian (62%) and far more are unaffiliated (28%).
