As 2024 comes to a close, Peoples Energy Analytics would like to thank our supporters and celebrate the successes that made this year one of the strongest we’ve had at the company. Some of our highlights: 1. One of our utility customers (Peoples Natural Gas) released an announcement discussing the value of our collaborative pilot project: https://lnkd.in/gnvzS7m7. 2. Our CEO, Destenie Nock, PhD, was named a 2024 UCS Science Defender by the Union of Concerned Scientists. 3. Dr. Nock was invited to serve on the Massachusetts Interagency Rates Working Group (IRWG), and created energy affordability definitions for the state. 4. We were named the winner of the Richard King Mellon Foundation 2024 Social-Impact Investment Pitch Competition. 5. We completed the Dream Climate Tech Launchpad, led by Village Capital in partnership with Dream.Org, and with support from Salesforce. 6. Dr. Nock was invited to present at the APPAM Association for Public Policy Analysis fall event. 7. Dr. Nock joined the RE+ 24 conference and spoke on the critical importance of grid equity in the clean energy transition. 8. We participated in Chloe Capital's 2024 Invest In Women: Founder Showcase. We are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished, but more importantly, we’re excited for what’s ahead. Although recent political events have generated widespread uncertainty about whether finding solutions to energy insecurity and energy affordability challenges will remain a policy priority, Peoples Energy Analytics is committed to addressing these issues with integrity and ingenuity alongside our trusted utility partners. Together, we can make energy affordability a reality for all of us, particularly for those who are the most vulnerable. Thank you to all of our investors, stakeholders, supporters, and team-members for your continued support. Happy new year from us to you. Peoples Energy Analytics
Peoples Energy Analytics
Data Infrastructure and Analytics
A complete data-based solution designed to modernize the way energy utilities improve the lives of their customers.
About us
Energy insecurity shows up in different ways. Homes are kept at unsafe or unhealthy temperatures. Competing necessities such as medication or food aren’t purchased. Payments are missed, resulting in disconnections or outages. To address energy insecurity, we need analytics-driven solutions focused on targeting and assisting individuals who may be overlooked. Our vision is to dramatically reduce energy insecurity by working alongside utility companies to accurately identify households in need of financial assistance, segment them across key demographic categories, and approach them with direct support opportunities.

This week, CEO Destenie Nock, PhD will be presenting at the APPAM Association for Public Policy Analysis fall event, a multi-disciplinary research conference attracting the highest-quality research on a wide variety of important current and emerging policy and management issues. Dr. Nock is presenting about the impact of LIHEAP on energy affordability and energy-limiting behavior. Conference Theme: The 2024 APPAM Fall Research Conference, Policymaking at the Federal, State, and Local Levels, encourages attention to and consideration of how policies play out at multiple levels of government. For example, how do the impacts of federal programs vary across places? What is the optimal level of government to fund and deliver different public services? For services provided at multiple levels of government, how best to coordinate across the levels? How can local governments best tailor their implementation of federal policies and programs to local circumstances? https://lnkd.in/gsPTNj6S

🚨 We are excited about the insights discussed in "Reducing Energy Burden in the Power Sector: Metrics for Assessing Energy Poverty," published in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) latest issue of Power and Energy Magazine, "Equity and Justice in Power Systems: The Power Systems Field Meets "Environmental Justice." ✒ Authored by Destenie Nock, PhD, Andrew J. Jones Jr., PhD, ENV SP, Stefan Bouzarovski, Harriet Thomson, and Dominic Bednar, Ph.D., EIT. 🔗The paper is available at https://lnkd.in/egFHbezR, 🔓The open-access version is available at https://lnkd.in/dQ7MmDj4. The paper explains how energy burden and other metrics can be used to support decision-making within the power sector. The authors describe present-day challenges of only using energy burden and a push for practitioners to "break down" the components of residential energy demand to identify barriers and adequate levels of consumption. As the United States continues to push for policies such as Justice40, there are many lessons that can be learned from the European Union regarding the integration of energy burden into practice, methodological caveats, and direct and indirect consequences. The following actions were recommended: 1️⃣ weatherization, 2️⃣ community engagement, and 3️⃣ residential technology deployments. The authors also provided action steps for practitioners: 💡 Tracking the impacts of energy investments through the use of high-resolution data (e.g., demographic surveys and AMI), 💡 Support weatherization efforts, 💡 Leverage existing relationships with the community, 💡 Tie incentives of infrastructure and technology upgrades to the electric meter and 💡Develop a baseline for sufficient energy and evaluate if households are experiencing energy deficits. One question this article poses that resonates with us is, "Are residents securing an adequate level of energy usage to be safe and productive in their homes?" ❓Comment below with your thoughts: What does an adequate level of energy usage mean to you?
