Using Artificial Intelligence to Advance Innovation for Care Management and Aging in Place
About us
The overarching goal of the Penn Artificial Intelligence and Technology (PennAITech) Collaboratory for Healthy Aging is to identify, develop, evaluate, commercialize, and disseminate innovative technology and artificial intelligence (AI) methods and software to support older adults and those with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) in their home environment. The Collaboratory is motivated by the need for a comprehensive pipeline from technology-based monitoring of older adults in the home, collection and processing monitoring data, integration of those data with clinical data from electronic health records, analysis with cutting-edge AI methods and software, and deployment of validated AI models at point of care for decision support.

The Penn AI and Tech Collaboratory for Healthy Aging reposted this
The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has meant that we are now in a transformational, if not paradigm-altering, era in our relationship with technology. The sister disciplines of gerontology and geriatrics are no different. AI is already influencing our conduct of scholarship, our care for older people, and how we teach. The rapid integration of AI and machine learning in our everyday lives demands a robust consideration of these technologies' implications for understanding adult development and aging and our aspirations to age well. Multiple scholars of gerontological science have tackled these issues in their research, and I am thrilled that several of my most prominent colleagues working in this space have agreed to guest edit a special issue on Artificial Intelligence and Aging for The Gerontologist: Walter Boot, Clara Berridge, and George Demiris. For more information and details on how to submit your work to this critical special issue, please see https://lnkd.in/g48cdKWC. Full manuscript submissions are due April 1, 2025. We aim to publish the full special issue in February 2026. As emphasized in the call for papers, this "special issue will focus on the role of AI in supporting the health, well-being, independence, and quality of life of older adults and their families, as well as the broader impacts AI may have on gerontology. Papers may explore the use of AI technology by older adults and caregivers and the use of AI to monitor, understand, and influence various cognitive, health, or psychosocial outcomes." This special issue has incredible resonance and importance, and I hope you or your colleagues consider submitting your work! Please share this call widely! #artificialintelligence #ai #aging #agingwell #gerontology #geriatrics #science #innovation Alexandrea Allemann, MA, Andrea Gilmore Bykovskyi, Ulla Kriebernegg, Howard Degenholtz, Patricia C.
