What a year on Patreon! 2024 showed that fans on our platform are the realest. We saw fans joining communities in droves (over 60 million free memberships–a number that’s doubled since June alone), and taking their fandom to the next level (over 400k free memberships convert to paid each month, and revenue from one-time purchases is up by 4X). And there’s no better time for creators to join Patreon. 60% of people who sign up for a creator’s Patreon come from within the Patreon network; in fact, on average more than half of a Patreon creator’s revenue comes from fans already on the platform. That means that Patreon is fueling a network effect, and creators are seeing the benefits. To the over 300,000 creators who make Patreon what it is – thank you. 🚀 Patreon Celebrates Another Year of Connecting Creators and their real fans! 🎉 As we approach the end of the year, we’re excited to reflect on the incredible milestones and moments we’ve shared with creators and fans in 2024. This year was an amazing year of growth, connection, and inspiration, and it’s all thanks to the vibrant community of over 300,000 creators and the millions of fans with free or paid memberships each month who make Patreon so special. Creators are more connected to their fans than ever: From creators surpassing 60M free memberships, to monthly revenue from one-time purchases increasing by 4x, 5x as many creators engaging in community chats, over 60% of people who sign up for a creator’s Patreon coming from within the Patreon fan network and over 40,000 projects released using Drops. We also saw online communities bring their magic to in-real-life experiences this year with exclusive live events with creators Shannon Beveridge of exes and o’s podcast, The Cutting Room Floor’s Recho Omondi, Sibling Rivalry, RedHanded, and a special collaboration with Bad Friends and the Basement Yard. We also championed creators in a Times Square billboard with our “Your Creativity Belongs Here” campaign that will extend into 2025. ✨What’s next for 2025? Some eras are ending, but parenting eras are forever.
At Patreon, we know that building a culture that fosters creativity and growth takes constant iteration and investing in programs that take care of our people both inside and outside of work. As a leader who also happens to be a mom, it’s especially important to me that we support our team through all phases of their life. Today we announced that we’re expanding our parental leave to 20 weeks for all teammates, regardless of how that new bundle of joy (and lack of sleep!) joined your crew. We also expanded our flexible return-to-work program - giving an additional 4 weeks of ramp-up time once a parent returns from leave. We know it is a balancing act to be a parent and an employee and our goal is ensuring everyone is set up for success - in both their jobs! We’re continuing to bring more creators and fans onto Patreon every day to build energized communities and sustain successful businesses. Our own business is growing as a result, and we are looking for passionate people to join us and help shape the future of our vibrant, diverse community. We are always inspired by the many different and unique ways creators turn to Patreon to build community. One of our latest launches is no exception! #TelepathicInstruments, an electronic instruments company founded by #KevinParker of #TameImpala, recently prioritized launching their new instrument Orchid alongside a creator community exclusively on Patreon. As part of their announcement, Telepathic Instruments launched a free online Patreon community known as “The Garden” where users can communicate directly with the Telepathic Instruments team to shape and refine the instrument before a wider release later in 2025. On December 18, the first of 1,000 Orchids will be available exclusively on Patreon. Additionally, Patreon will be providing their community with tools like community chats for feedback, AMAs, instrument refinement discussions and more. We’re excited to help the Telepathic Instruments community sow the seeds of their garden to cultivate and nurture their fan community in the year ahead.
