Have you ever wanted to know: ✔️The thought process behind our nearly $25 billion in completed acquisitions? ✔️Why we believe the future of energy is one of “transformation” not “transition?” ✔️The opportunities driving energy demand, like #AI and natural gas and liquified natural gas (LNG) growth? Our President and CEO Pierce Norton shares the answers to these and other questions in a new Q&A with Global Listed Infrastructure Organisation (GLIO), moderated by Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co.'s Rodney C. Our President and CEO Pierce Norton believes that the future of #energy is one of transformation and addition, not transition. Read more ⬇️
Thank you to Reuters Events for the invitation to join its Energy LIVE 2024 conference in Houston, Texas, which convened 3,000 leaders from the #energy industry to discuss how we shape the future of our sector. I had the privilege of speaking with Thomson Reuters’ Maria Victoria Vargas on the topic of “Building on Our History, Transforming for a Secure Energy Future.” At ONEOK, 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Transition implies we’re moving away from something and never going back. Transformation, however, implies using, enhancing and building upon what we already have. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 – 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮. I shared with the audience my view that the future will require all forms of energy – 𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – to meet the growing demand for reliable, affordable and sustainable energy. And each form of energy is working to solve their unique challenges. For fossil fuels it is emissions, for #nuclear it is cost and acceptance, for #renewables it is reliability. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿. Maria and I also discussed ONEOK’s recent acquisitions and our M&A strategy – which is never about size alone. We approach acquisitions in an intentional and disciplined way, driven by a framework that focuses on 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. This has created integrated systems at scale that enhances and transports various molecules from the wellhead to marketplace – providing even more value for our customers and stakeholders. We have a century-plus track record of providing the affordable and reliable energy solutions the world needs today while transforming for tomorrow. And none of this would be possible without our innovative employees who power ONEOK every day. I am proud to work alongside them in an industry that makes a difference here in America and around the world.

Today we announced the completion of two key projects: MB-6, a 125,000-barrel per day (bpd) natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionator in Mont Belvieu, Texas, and the full looping of the West Texas NGL Pipeline. The completion of MB-6 increases our fully owned fractionation capacity to more than 1 million bpd, enhancing our ability to serve growing #NGL market demand. The Demag – one of the world’s largest cranes – was instrumental in the tower placement of MB-6 earlier this year. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3ZCvnWj

For many of us, this time of year is an opportunity to reflect on the people, experiences and opportunities that have shaped us. For me, I am grateful for the many leaders who have positively touched my career and life. I recently received a text that one of my first supervisors, Fred Walker, passed away. Fred was a very positive influence in my career and one of the first managers who took an interest in helping me to develop and grow as an engineer. I will always be grateful for Fred and the major influence he had on my life and the lives of many others. During this season of gratitude, I’d invite each of you to “call your Fred.” Call that person who made a special impact in your life and thank them for taking an interest in you. I also encourage you to “be a Fred.” Be that leader who makes a positive impact in the lives of others. You’ll be thankful you did, and the world will be a better place because of it.
