Affordable, clean energy continues its rise in America. Data from the American Clean Power Association (ACP)'s latest #CleanPowerQuarterly report reveals that more than 10 GW of utility-scale clean power capacity was installed in Q3, bringing clean power total capacity to nearly 294 GW. Are we grossly undervaluing renewable energy projects at $/MWh? Imagine if renewables were measured, optimized, and valued not just by their cost per MWh, but by the emissions they avoid - carbon and far beyond? It's like a full nutrition label for energy projects, including the missing "nutrition facts" that impact human lives, species, and pollution, alongside $/MWh. It's no wonder 80%+ of utility-scale renewable projects are facing increasing community opposition, permitting and interconnect challenges leading to severe delays or failure, and costing developers $200,000/MW according to a new Berkeley Lab study (see comments for study link). Developers can't prove the full public health, environmental and economy-wide benefits resulting from the avoided emissions caused by their projects.
