It was a mind-blowing moment at the 2nd UNILAG Industry-Career Insights series of the Office of Career Development Services (OCDS), University of Lagos (UNILAG), as the students had direct interactions with the crème de la crème of the society. There was an exchange of contacts between the students and the immediate past Minister of Information of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alh. Lai Mohammed; the Group Managing Director of Continental Hotels, Mr. Karl Hala, and top Managerial Staff of the Continental Hotels. The Office of Career Development Services (OCDS), University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commenced the UNILAG Industry Career Insights series intended to create a platform for the students to have direct interactions with the industry for mentoring, connections, and possible job employment for those who merit it. A set of three series commenced on 27th June with the Industry Career Insight with EDUBanc focusing on Edtech and Financial Services. The event, which took place at the Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre, UNILAG had in attendance over 100 students both onsite and online. The students listened to many mentors who shared their stories. Their willingness to mentor students across all disciplines with essential knowledge of critical industry-required skills to access the rich networking opportunities needed for employability and readiness for real-world challenges were highlighted. In the recent past the Office of Career Development Services (OCDS), a unit under the office of Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, the DVC, DS, University of Lagos, Nigeria has organized several events to equip the university students with up-to-date information and enlightenment to seamlessly transit from school to workplace tagged "Career Conversations" with diverse themes. Seasoned professionals from different sectors engage our students in speaking to several themes: Oludolapo Adu, CPA, CGA, FCCA, MBA, Head of Upsteam Trades, Tulcan Energy Resources, Nigeria, spoke to "Reinventing yourself for employability and career success"; Mrs. Morenike Adeosun spoke to "Job interview success tips"; Mr. Bayo Puddicombe, a Software Architect spoke to "Discovering your career dream"; Dr. Ayo Adepoju, Group CFO, Ecobank spoke to "Discovering your career dreams in management sciences" among others.
