Ochsner Health is proud to be the Official Medical Provider of the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee! We had a great time ending 2024, celebrating two more of our Super STEM Bowls at Lawrence Crocker and Willow Middle School. With the help of #OchsnerServes volunteers, Ochsner Education Outreach hosted both events, engaging with over 1,200 students! From high-energy flag football games led by The 18th Ward to competing against New Orleans Saints players Cam Jordan, Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning in CPR Races led by Ochsner Simulation Center, both days were filled with joy and laughter. We were also joined by the Saints mascot, Sir Saint, and the Saints Cheer Krewe! Students built football helmets and learned about concussion prevention, interacted with NorthShore Robotics- A Non-Profit Organization to build and battle robots, and learned about various sports medicine careers with hands-on STEM activities that build excitement for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans! We are so thankful to everyone who has helped make our Super STEM Bowls a success, and we cannot wait for the next one! Check out all of our Super STEM Tour Resources at https://ow.ly/flFi50UuyzI

Members of the Ochsner Rush team Kaylee Nance, Angela Boos, Jessica Meyer, Beth Ethridge, Bridget Davidson, Kerry Clark, Sarai Clark, and Pam Belvin recently made a lasting impact during a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. This group cared for around 100 patients daily, providing blood pressure and glucose checks, wound care, parasite treatments, vitamin distributions and more. They brought healthcare to remote villages, schoolyards and church sanctuaries, reaching communities with limited access to medical support. Thank you to these team members for making a difference and inspiring us. #OchsnerServes

At Ochsner Children’s, we believe literacy is the key to improved educational outcomes and healthier communities. That’s why we were proud to partner with Demario Davis and The New Orleans Saints for a Scholastic Book Fair at The Good Shepherd School on Dec. 10! Together, we made an incredible impact by providing 1,350 books to students and the community. Each of the 350 students had the chance to pick three books at no cost, and Ochsner Health donated 300 additional books to the school. 📚✨ The event was filled with inspiration! Demario Davis motivated students during a pep rally with a spirited chant of “Reading is Cool! Learning is Fun! Never Stop Growing!” Ochsner Children’s pediatricians and nurses joined in to honor the top readers and celebrate the hard work of both students and teachers. Thomas Moran, CEO of Good Shepherd School, perfectly captured the day when he said, “A truly blessed day for our mission.” Learn more about Ochsner's community impact: https://ow.ly/q0PF50UsLjG #OchsnerServes

The holiday season is fully underway, and we are celebrating! Ochsner Children's patients and their families, plus more than 400 students from Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy were treated to a fun-filled afternoon hosted by Mrs. Gayle Benson on Thursday, Dec. 12. Mrs. Benson began by visiting pediatric patients in the ICU and cardiovascular ICU at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans on Jefferson Highway to deliver gifts and holiday wishes. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus were there! Mrs. Benson, Santa and Mrs. Claus then visited the magical holiday wonderland to celebrate and deliver gifts to children. The kids (and adults) spent the afternoon eating treats, singing holiday carols and rocking around the Christmas tree! Of course, holiday gift wish lists were sent to Santa, too. 🎁 The festivities were possible thanks to the generous support of Mrs. Benson and the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans. We even spent some time with the Saints Cheer Krewe, PelSquad and Pierre the Pelican! “For many of our pediatric patients, this will be their first time away from home during the holidays. It means the world to the patients, their families and the care team here at Ochsner Children’s for Mrs. Gayle Benson and friends to bring a little holiday magic to these kids,” said Shon Baker, PhD, CFRE, system vice president and chief philanthropy officer. We are so grateful for the support of Mrs. Benson and our community in making this a Christmas to remember. Happy holidays from Ochsner Children's to you! ❤️🎄

Ochsner Health again partnered with Renew Dolores T Aaron Academy for their fourth annual Donuts with Dad event! 🍩💙 This special day brought students and father figures in their lives together to reinforce the importance of connection, education and health within our community. To build healthier, stronger communities, Ochsner provided free health screenings to 37 men, with 6 receiving referrals to the Brees Family Center for primary care, making proactive health a priority. Our Ochsner Education Outreach team and #OchsnerServes volunteers also brought holiday fun with a candy cane-themed STEM activity, encouraging students and families to explore, create and learn together. 🧪🎄 Resources for at-home STEM experiments were a hit, keeping the spirit of hands-on learning alive over winter break! Together, we can create a healthier community for all. #OchsnerServes

At Ochsner, we have a clear purpose: to serve and heal others and to make our communities stronger and healthier. In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, Ochsner Lafayette General is working to combat hunger in Acadiana. We conducted a food drive, collecting 7,200 pounds of food, which Second Harvest will then distribute to over 700 community partners and programs across 23 parishes. Ochsner also donated $5,000 to Second Harvest to provide food vouchers for those in need to buy food at the Makin’ Groceries Mobile Market that visits our Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics campus monthly. This effort, combined with 1,299 volunteer hours in 2024, underscores Ochsner’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in our community. Together with Second Harvest, we're creating lasting change where it's needed most. Discover more about our impact at https://ow.ly/HFX650UmPcJ. #OchsnerServes
