The key to transmission infrastructure development is collaboration — at least according to speakers in the 2024 IPF workshop, “What is Next for Transmission Infrastructure in the Northeast and Offshore?” With more than 5 GW of offshore wind energy under installation or operation in the U.S. — and another 8 GW approved — it’s more important than ever to advance grid infrastructure across the country, especially in already-crowded regions. In the Northeast, several states have come together to resolve transmission challenges and collaboratively reach their clean energy goals, an effort that was discussed during the workshop led by @StuartNachmias, President & CEO of Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses. Panelists participated in an open discussion about transmission opportunities and updates in New York, New Jersey, and New England, and described the offshore wind industry as an ecosystem. While each state has its own projects and development timelines, working together helps ensure everyone can reach their targets. 🔌 ⚡ Speakers included Alissa Baker (U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)) , Bob Brabston (New Jersey Board of Public Utilities), gregory lampman (NYSERDA), Weezie Nuara (Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs), and Sarah Orban Salati (National Grid). Join Oceantic Network for 2025 IPF, April 28-May 1, in Virginia Beach for more forward-looking conversations. Transmission infrastructure remains a hot topic among state, federal, and industry partners, and it’s sure to be part of this year’s IPF agenda. Don’t wait! Register today. #IPF25 #IPFConf #OffshoreWind
