Team UHS enjoyed a festive start to the season at our holiday celebrations on December 10 and 17. UHS employees and their families gathered for the magical Jungle Bells event at Animal Adventure Park, which was sponsored by the Compass Group.
The park dazzled with two million lights and featured interactive exhibits with both domestic and exotic animals. Activities included crafts, visits to Santa’s workshop, and carols performed by the UHS Choir.
Thank you to our volunteers, UHS Child Care, UHS Food & Nutrition, and the UHS Security Team for ensuring a fun and safe experience for all! 🎅🦒

"Karen was there to answer the phone, to talk to me, to listen to me, answer my messages, and keep us informed for multiple days. Not once did she seem like I was upsetting her," said Dustin. "Karen was touching to my entire family and never physically got to see us; she only knew our names and numbers. I know she wouldn’t be able to do it without her team. However, Karen is truly an extraordinary person, nurse, coworker, and friend."

What an amazing recognition for Scott Mineno of UHS Binghamton General, who was nominated and awarded the annual Cintas C.A.P.E. Award (Cleaning to Advance the Patient Experience).
With over 800 nominations submitted nationwide, Scott was 1 of just 10 winners who received this prestigious award which truly shows his world class dedication to UHS and the patients/staff he encounters on a daily basis.
So proud that Cintas recognizes Environmental Services (EVS) staff who are truly unsung hero’s on a daily basis and are essential in providing a clean and safe environment for all staff, patients and visitors at healthcare facilities. They play a crucial role in cleaning and sanitizing public and private areas, including patient rooms, to eliminate viruses, germs and hospital-acquired infections.
The award ceremony took place on November 19th 2024, at the monthly Leadership Meeting for UHS, where Scott was presented this award in front of nearly 200 UHS leaders across the system.
In addition to the recognition, Scott received a $2,500 cash prize, and another $2,500 was donated to the UHS Binghamton General Hospital foundation in Scott’s name.
Scott received a Regional Hospital Rubbermaid Cleaning Cart, his name appeared on the NASDAQ tower in Times Square, and Scott and the hospital also received a scholarship for C.H.E.S.T Certification as well as a C.H.E.S.T Train the Trainer Certification through the AHE.
