Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel on the morning of December 4, 2024. The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. as Thompson, 50, was preparing to attend UnitedHealth Group’s annual investor conference scheduled for later that day. He was shot multiple times in the chest and leg by a masked assailant who then fled the scene. Thompson had been with UnitedHealth Group since 2004, serving in various leadership roles before being appointed CEO of UnitedHealthcare in April 2021. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and have announced a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the suspect’s arrest. Thompson is survived by his family, including two children. His death marks a significant loss for UnitedHealth Group and the broader healthcare community. https://lnkd.in/gPemP3Bd

Today, November 19, the Minority Business Development Agency - U.S. Department of Commerce (MBDA) Small Business Summit was held at the The White House Eisenhower Executive Building. This dynamic event united senior federal officials, representatives from key federal agencies, and successful minority business enterprises (MBEs) to address federal contracting challenges and opportunities. We at Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce invited our members and had the opportunity to: • Share insights on the hurdles within the federal procurement space. • Gain valuable knowledge about navigating the federal contracting landscape. • Engage with resources designed to support growth and success.
