Leading regional collaboration to build disaster resilient healthcare system. Together we Prepare. Respond. Recover.
About us
The Northwest Healthcare Response Network (NWHRN) has a unique and vital role in disaster planning, response and recovery: We lead and coordinate a coalition of independent healthcare organizations, public health leaders and emergency response partners to ensure Western Washington communities can get needed healthcare services during emergencies and disasters. This is the heart of our mission during any kind of crisis. Our goal is that every patient gets the care they need when disasters strike. We are a local and national leader on multi-hazard healthcare preparedness and response and multi-sector engagement. Our expertise centers on developing the relationships, plans and capabilities that are at the core of a coordinated emergency response. Our approach to disaster planning and response relies on both art and science. We leverage expertise, collaboration, partnerships, innovation and accountability to identify novel approaches to multi-sector challenges and implement solutions. Initially launch as a program at Public Health-Seattle & King County in 2005, today the Northwest Healthcare Response Network is a nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) organization in Washington state.

Great #leaders right there! We look forward to integrating new insights and best practices into our operations, ensuring that we are always ready to protect and serve healthcare and our Washington communities! #hcc #disasterprepareness #healthcare #resiliency #innovation
This week three of our Northwest Healthcare Response Network team members Susan Koppelmann Kelly Hill and Kelly Sunagel joined alongside some of our outstanding physician partners from UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Children's, Steve Mitchell, MD FACEP and #DrMaryAliceKing to attend the #NationalHealthcareCoalitionPreparednessConference (NHCPC). This was a valuable week to share and learn among other national experts dedicated to healthcare preparedness, response and resiliency. This conference is a pivotal event, bringing together experts and leaders from across the healthcare, public health and emergency management sectors to discuss and develop strategies for enhancing our #medical #preparedness and #response to #disasters. In a world where the unexpected can happen at any moment, being prepared is not just an option—it's a necessity. Thank you #DrMaryAliceKing for speaking to the robust partnerships, coordination, data, information sharing and #clinical #pediatric excellence among the Northwest Healthcare Response Network members that helped advance the collaboration to bring forth the pediatric #MedicalOperationsCoordinationCenter (#MOCC) via the #WashingtonMedicalCoordinationCenter.

Our #response #team has been hard at work since #hurricane Helene destroyed a Baxter International Inc.plant in North Carolina that manufactures critical IV Fluids for healthcare. For nearly two weeks our Healthcare Emergency Coordination Center team has been at work focused on the following: - Leading multi-agency coordination among healthcare organizations, public health (state and local), EMS, healthcare associations (long term care, dialysis, hospitals, etc) and state health and human service agencies to support information sharing, collaboration, coordination on strategies for managing the impacts, etc. - Monitoring, assessing and reporting current impacts to the healthcare system to provide situational awareness and common operating picture so that patients can continue to get care. -Coordinating resource sharing /mutual aid options among healthcare organizations and partners and aiding in /resource logistics requests if needed. - Advocating for the needs of healthcare organizations and escalating/elevating issues needing to be addressed through state and federal partners. We will continue to support our healthcare system partners as we navigate these challenging times together. Thank you for your continued collaboration and partnership! #hcc #disasterpreparedness #disasterresponse #healthcare #collaboration #supplychain HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response
