🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Dan Adelman 🌟 Meet Dan Adelman, a dedicated volunteer at the Highwood Mobile Market! This outdoor food distribution in Lake County can serve nearly 300 families whenever it operates, at least once a month. For about a year, Dan has been helping families in need by offering a smile, a red wagon, and his time. His kindness and commitment make a real difference in the lives of many of our neighbors. 💙 Dan also brings his two high schoolers along to show them the power of giving back, teaching them valuable lessons in service. Our vision at Northern Illinois Food Bank is for everyone in Northern Illinois to have the food they need to thrive. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proud member of Feeding America, we serve our neighbors in 13 counties with dignity, equity and convenience, providing 250,000 meals a day. We bring together manufacturers, local and corporate grocers, area farmers, corporations, foundations, and individuals who donate food and funding, and each week nearly 1,000 volunteers help us evaluate, repack, and distribute food. We also proudly partner with more than 900 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and youth and senior feeding programs to provide nutritious food and resources. Our distribution centers are located in Geneva, Park City, Rockford and Joliet. As we celebrate the highlights of our fiscal year 2024, we are proud of the incredible impact made possible by our community. Together, we distributed 90.5 million meals and fed an average of 570,000 neighbors each month through our 900+ food pantries and programs. With the support of 29,000 donors and 20,000 volunteers contributing nearly 150,000 volunteer hours, we are making a real difference in the fight against hunger. We celebrated with a confetti canon launch, of course! The canons were a little tough to twist which made it even more fun….loads of laughter! Our Chief Impact Officer, Jen, used her culinary skills to feed our team members at the Geneva office last week. She served two groups, one at 6am and the other at 9am to feed our drivers/warehouse early am team as well as the rest of the staff at 9AM. ABC 7 Chicago's "Feed the Love" campaign featured Northern Illinois Food Bank's Senior Mobile Distribution in West Chicago, which happens to be led by my Mom. Every month more than 80 seniors are provided with fresh, nutritious groceries, some of which are purchased using a Thrivent Action Team grant.
