💡 Each year, NeurIPS unites the best minds in ML/AI for its annual institutional AI conference. This year, NEA was thrilled to have a strong presence at the event--attending valuable sessions, hosting several events to gather the industry's best and brightest, and expanding our network with amazing talent from researchers to founders and change-makers and beyond. As a firm, we are proud to back leaders driving the conversation at NeurIPS, with World Labs’ Fei-Fei Li delivering the keynote speech, Twelve Labs hosting a video understanding workshop, Databricks researchers delivering talks across the AI stack and much more. We were also honored to host an event featuring the companies across our portfolio that are simultaneously setting the precedent in AI research and driving forward enterprise value. Our tech investment team members Lila Tretikov, former dCTO of Microsoft, and Madison Faulkner, former Meta AI researcher, highlight insights on how NeurIPS has changed through the years: ✈️ AI leadership at startups and academic institutions are prioritizing attending, despite never being more stretched for time. 🎉 The number of corporate, venture and startup events and attendees has massively increased at NeurIPS. Although this changes the DNA of NeurIPS, it also strengthens the relationship between academic research and industry application. 🧑🏽🏫 More of the workshops, keynotes and sessions are being led by startups and enterprises, showing that AI innovation is occurring at record paces in industry. 🏫 More academic researchers are getting involved in startup advising and venture. 🤝 Researchers and engineers are looking to companies at NeurIPS as the best in the industry, and using this conference as a key channel for hiring, for infrastructure buying and for partnership building.
