About us

New Door Ventures believes that every young person has the potential to become an independent, self-sustaining adult. However, not all get the chance due to barriers such as poverty, homelessness, history of justice system involvement, and trauma. Our program gives opportunity youth a way to connect to work and education with paid, meaningful jobs, skills training, educational support, and individualized case management.

  • When DaVon joined New Door, he was eager to start a career in film and production. With the support of our dedicated team, we connected him with an internship at Peralta Hacienda Historical Park. This opportunity allowed DaVon to gain hands-on experience in a field he’s passionate about, and that was just the beginning. Since then, he’s taken the next step by enrolling in Berkeley City College, with the guidance of our education team, and has built a network of mentors and peers who believe in his future. "New Door wasn't just a workspace. You go there and that's family," DaVon says. This holiday season, you have the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of youth like DaVon, who turned his passion into purpose thanks to supporters like you. • For young people like Christian, finding a job often feels out of reach. “It was difficult for me to find a job before New Door,” Christian shares. “I would put in a lot of applications, put my foot forward, and nine times out of 10, I’d not get a call back.” At 17, Christian moved out of his family home. He found it difficult to communicate with people and struggled to find a job that he was interested in. Through New Door, Christian joined a six-month paid internship with Waterside Workshops, where his dedication and growth not only opened doors but led to a permanent role with the team. “It was mind-blowing that I could actually achieve my goal and find a job,” he says. “I wasn’t expecting to get a job right after and be doing something I really enjoyed. Honestly, I was pretty ecstatic.” Christian’s story shows just how important support like yours can be. Your investment ensures that youth, like Christian, can access not only work experience but also mentorship, life skills, and a community that will stand by them long after their internship ends. #Youth #Employment #Work

  • “I feel like coming into New Door, I learned basic skills and that was a great starting point going into future jobs where I continuously refined those skills. It was a really great first step and really good training wheels to go in the right direction,” says KB a former New Door Employment Program Intern. Preparing young people for the future is about more than just job training—it’s about developing the essential soft skills that will help them thrive in any environment. From time management to confidence, our youth are growing skills that will set them up for long-term success. They’re learning how to: ✅Set and achieve goals 🎯 ✅Communicate proactively 📢 ✅Be flexible and adapt to change 🌱 ✅Work effectively in teams 🤝 These skills are the foundation of success in both life and work, and we’re proud to support our interns as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow. #MoreThanAJob #Community #NewDoor

  • “I think it’s really important to have people like Jose. They make sure that you do everything right, and if you mess it up, you know that they’re there to help you as well. They’re there to help you grow,” says former New Door intern Luis. Having people like Jose, the General Manager of GoCar Tours, makes all the difference. Our business partners don’t just provide jobs—they offer guidance, share their experience, and create a safe space for young people to learn and grow. We’re so grateful for partners who go beyond the role of employer, becoming mentors who support youth every step of the way. Thank you for your incredible support! Together we are building a future where young people thrive in work and life. #MoreThanAJob #Community #NewDoor
