  • We would like to thank The Victory Advantage for kicking off our Nevins on the Go campaign with a generous grant! We rely on our vans to safely transport our staff and participants to the Nevins campus, our in the community, to their jobs with their job coaches, and to their jobs at Atrium Health. Our fleet has gotten older and costly to repair, so we're working on raising funds to buy a new van. Will you partner with us in this mission? A few dollars will go a long way to make sure that adults with disabilities will get to where they need to go to live their best life. We're on our way to create opportunities. What will YOU create today?

  • Our Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships Jessica Bustamante completed the ALP-NC Ability Leadership Training Program focusing on advocating for people with disabilities in North Carolina. They sent her some cool swag for it. Thank you Community Bridges, NCCDD, and to all of the ALP volunteers.

  • Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the Olmstead Decision. The decision read: Under Title II of the ADA, States are required to place persons with mental disabilities in community settings rather than in institutions when the State's treatment professionals have determined that: (1) community placement is appropriate, (2) the transfer from institutional care to a less restrictive setting is not opposed by the affected individual, and (3) the placement can be reasonably accommodated, taking into account the resources available to the State and the needs of others with mental disabilities. This means that before 1999, people with disabilities could be institutionalized against their will. For over 65 years now, Nevins Inc. has been on the forefront of the fight against institutionalization of people with disabilities. It is our mission to make sure that our participants are in the driver's seat of their own lives, and we are simply the wheels to help them get there. What will YOU create today? #IDD #olmstead #justice #NevinsInc #SCOTUS
