Last week, Village Capital's Dream Climate Tech Launchpad concluded in Pittsburgh, where I successfully pitched NetaCarbon at the Venture Forum. As one of 10 selected startups, and the sole carbon-focused company, we are excited to collaborate with many of the startups in our cohort that are deploying hard-tech climate solutions that decarbonize industries. Enabling them to capitalize on carbon offsets, amplifying their impact, and accelerating their growth. We really do believe that young climate-tech founders bring unparalleled drive, fueled by a personal stake in shaping a livable future. Huge shoutout to Village Capital, Salesforce and Dream.Org, especially Cali Simmons, Martin Alexis, MBA, MA and Elizabeth Nguyen for all your support during these past months! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 by Crimson Founders introduces, NetaCarbon: Workflow solution for bespoke high-quality carbon projects investments. founded by + Maria del Mar Velasco | MIT Sloan School of Management 𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗮 + Grace Lam | Harvard Business School 𝗠𝗕𝗔 and Harvard Kennedy School 𝗠𝗣𝗔 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗮 Read the Interview with Maria del Mar Velasco: https://lnkd.in/gEaabjbx + 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: "𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥. The startup journey is incredibly volatile, with extreme highs and lows. This mindset helps me maintain perspective – when we're struggling, I remind myself I'm not as incompetent as I feel, and when we're soaring, I recognize I'm not as brilliant as I think. This grounding keeps me focused on the long-term vision and resilient in the face of challenges." + 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: "𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 for investors and not being thoughtful about our fundraising strategy. At Harvard/MIT, we are over-exposed to venture funding given their presence on campus, and did not give much thought to other sources of financing. However, talking to advisors helps us critically evaluate the tradeoffs between various types of investors and the importance of finding ones that align with our mission and vision for NetaCarbon. Fortunately, we secured non-dilutive funds from awards and fellowships that allow us to bootstrap until now and have the runway to select the investors we want to partner with on this journey. We are now expanding our network of strategic investors and prioritizing conversations with those who align with us on our vision for the carbon market!" + 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: Climate, Sustainability, SaaS (Software as a Service), Environmental + NetaCarbon: NetaCarbon’s solution rebuilds trust in the carbon market by enabling corporate buyers to be the creators and financiers of high-quality carbon projects. Pre-financing not only serves as an effective climate finance solution and enables carbon projects to get off the ground, but it also strengthens brand narratives and can drive top-line growth. Their mission is to mobilize investments into projects that protect and preserve the planet. The voluntary carbon market's projected growth from $2 billion to $50 billion by 2030 presents a significant opportunity. To unlock this growth, sustainability officers need the power, budget, and best tools to take actionable steps towards reaching their goals. + 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: United States, Mexico + 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱: 2024 + 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲: 2 Congratulations to Maria del Mar Velasco and Grace Lam Crimson Founders Anoosheh Kalantari, Cristina Dolan, Sam Heuck #crimsonfounders #TheFounderFiles #Climate #SaaS #Sustainability #mitalumni #HarvardAlumni #mitsloan #startups #MITStartups #HarvardStartups #VentureCapital #VC #AngelInvesting #incubator #accelerator #Mexico #Dubai #AbuDhabi #UAE #UnitedStates #Startup #Founders

✨ EU Green Claims Directive: Transparency in Environmental Labeling 🌍 🧐 Ever wonder how The EU Green Claims Directive could affect your business? Starting in 2026, businesses operating in the EU markets need to adapt to stricter rules on sustainability claims based on the Directive, which aims to combat greenwashing and rebuild consumer trust. Learn more about it in our latest blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gh-JAnJ2 Key updates in this Directive include: ❌ Generic terms like "eco-friendly" or "climate-friendly" are prohibited without verification from third-party verifiers ❌ "Carbon Neutrality" claims based solely on purchasing carbon credits or offsetting emissions outside the production supply chain are banned. ❌ Only carbon removal credits, not emission reduction or avoidance credits, can be used for offsetting claims, ✅ Companies must separate GHG emissions from offsets in reports and provide evidence to validate environmental performance claims. 🔔 In our blog, NetaCarbon discusses the impact it could have on EU businesses and the carbon market. While businesses will need to prepare for detailed environmental disclosures, we also worry about "greenhushing" – companies becoming overly cautious about making any environmental claims due to fear of regulatory scrutiny. Ultimately, those who adapt quickly and transparently will be well-positioned to differentiate themselves in an increasingly eco-aware market and drive new industry standards. #EUGreenClaimsDirective #CarbonMarket #ClimateRegulations #NetaCarbon #CarbonNeutrality Grace Lam Maria del Mar Velasco

✨ New York Climate Week: Highlights and Reflections ✨ This year’s NY Climate Week hosted over 100,000 attendees - NetaCarbon was right in the center of the action! We co-hosted an oversubscribed panel event with TaroWorks and met new and familiar faces at events all over the city 🗽 Our co-founders, Maria del Mar Velasco and Grace Lam, reflected on their experience in our latest blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gfTCUc4W Our top 3 takeaways (full details in our blog): 💥 Collaborations across developers, financiers, and intermediaries are key to unlocking high-integrity demand in a tough market environment. 💥 Building business cases for carbon projects ensures internal buy-in and alignment on the budget, timeline, and scale of investments. 💥 Sharing learnings and expertise across the community is critical to support carbon project developers and buyers of various stages.
