In a classroom in Tierra Linda, Elmy noticed a quiet 12-year-old girl silently watching an embroidery class. She wasn’t participating—just observing. Elmy asked the instructor to offer the girl materials, saying, "I thought of my own daughters and hoped someone would do the same for them." That small gesture changed everything. The girl not only joined the class but flourished, eventually graduating while proudly wearing the huipil she had crafted herself. "This is the essence of community-led development," Elmy explains. "We see potential where others might not think to look." This is just one story of the transformative impact of our programs: ✨ 12 women graduated from advanced trade courses, preserving traditions and gaining economic independence. 📈 48 entrepreneurs completed small-business workshops, turning ancestral skills into sustainable livelihoods. 🌱 255 family gardens now provide nutrition and income, reviving Maya agricultural practices. When Indigenous leaders like Elmy guide our work, the result is more than individual achievements – it’s systemic, lasting change. 💡 Be part of the movement. "Leadership is within us all – we just need the opportunity to develop it," shares Elmy, Natün Guatemala's Economic Development Director. As a Maya Tzutujil woman, Elmy has returned to her community with a mission: to create spaces where Indigenous women can realize their full potential. Her approach combines ancestral wisdom with innovative development, empowering women and families through programs like advanced trade courses, small business development workshops, and family gardens. This is what Indigenous-led development looks like: recognizing potential, preserving cultural strength, and creating opportunities for lasting change. 💡 Invest in local leadership today and be part of this transformative work. https://lnkd.in/e8Yhg4qW

It's Giving Tuesday... a day of great anticipation for nonprofit orgs and fundraising professionals. Did you know that, on average, nonprofits receive 25% of their annual donations in the month of December? Giving was down 4% in 2023, and this year's political appeals diverted funding from excellent organizations that need sustainable support. Thankfully, 50% of U.S. households give annually, including 81% of affluent households. Giving Tuesday and end-of-year gifts are especially needed and deeply appreciated this year. These four organizations are holding a special place in my heart: Cristosal, Natün Guatemala, Henry J. Leir Institute for Migration and Human Security | The Fletcher School, Mental Makeover
