With USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina support, NARUC trained regulators and other stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina on delivering ancillary services at the distribution level. Ancillary services help grid operators maintain a reliable electricity system and guarantee security of supply by regulating frequency and voltage and balancing supply and demand. By learning more about this topic, participants will be better able to ensure grid stability and flexibility as they look to increase the penetration of #renewableenergy resources.

Today marked the final in-person event of the year for the NARUC Center for Partnerships and Innovation, and what an incredible journey it has been! We put on about 20 in-person events throughout the United States that included workshops, meetings, trainings, and site visits to energy facilities. In addition to in-person events, we hosted countless webinars and other virtual events. It was a high-volume year but I truly work with THE BEST team, who helps make it all manageable. Planning for 2025 events is well underway, and I am looking forward to what is in store – new events, learning opportunities, and continued collaboration with members. 🌱 As I step away to recharge, my out-of-office is officially on! ✨ Thank you to everyone who helped make 2024 successful – I look forward to ringing in 2025 with fresh energy and excitement. See you at an event soon!

With funding from the U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) Power Sector Program and in coordination with the Inter-American Development Bank, NARUC conducted a virtual workshop with Andean energy sector representatives, including the Bolivia Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Chile Ministry of Energy, Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas (CREG) (Colombia Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission), Ecuador Ministry of Energy and Mines, and Ministerio de Energía y Minas (Peru Ministry of Energy and Mines). This workshop enabled participants to exchange regional best practices, collaborate to enhance electricity market integration, and streamline their regulatory approaches to clean energy deployment. Andean governments are working to establish a new regional power market, and by working together, they can harmonize standards for battery storage and renewable energy grid interconnection, reduce regulatory barriers, and create a cohesive policy environment that attracts investment. Additionally, they can increase cross-border energy trade, export excess power to neighbors who need it, and access cheaper power, build shared transmission infrastructure, optimize resource use, and enhance grid stability – ultimately promoting sustainable development across the region. #andes #energymarket #renewableenergy #sustainabledevelopment
