We're thrilled to introduce Anthony Abril, Wing-See Fox, and Amadeos Oyagata as the newest members of MyPath's Board of Directors. These leaders bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to advancing our mission of creating pathways to financial security and economic equity for BIPOC youth. Anthony Michael Abril joins us from the Bridgespan Group, where he has played a pivotal role in supporting nonprofits dedicated to educational equity and economic mobility. Wing-See Fox brings over a decade of expertise in public finance, serving as Managing Director at Urban Futures, Inc., and a deep commitment to strengthening nonprofit leadership. Amadeos Oyagata, a former MyPath Youth Advocate and now a master’s candidate at Harvard University, has consistently championed equitable economic opportunities for young people. At MyPath, we empower young people with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to build assets and achieve lasting wealth. We're tackling systemic barriers to economic empowerment through programs like Guaranteed Income with financial mentorship, financial capability training, and innovative technology solutions. With dedicated leaders like Anthony, Wing-See, and Amadeos on our Board, we’re confident that we can drive even greater impact, expand our reach, and uplift the financial futures of youth across the nation. The article explores how integrating personalized financial coaching and education into early-life wealth programs, such as baby bonds and child savings accounts, can help young people effectively use these resources to build wealth and narrow racial wealth gaps. Our team — Margaret Libby, Loraina Flores - Martinez, and Catherine Dhongade—just returned from an incredible experience at the Aspen Forum For Community Solutions (AFCS) Opportunity Youth Forum (OYF) Fall Convening 2024 in Aspen, CO! We had the opportunity to present a workshop focused on groundbreaking recommendations and systems change strategies to promote financial well-being and wealth-building for opportunity youth. Through tools like guaranteed income, direct cash transfers, and subsidized savings accounts, MyPath shared how these innovative solutions can act as “startup capital for life,” helping young people build a foundation for lasting financial stability and wealth. We were also inspired to connect with amazing partners, including Amber Palmeri and Chantal Vargas from Mile High Youth Corps, as well as Jonathan Stenger, Chief Strategy Officer, and Antonio L. McKoy, MPA, Sr. Director of Workforce Development at YouthBuild Global. 🚀 Our New ERA youth leaders have been hard at work building strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. By participating in challenges like collaborative problem-solving tasks, they are honing their ability to work together, think critically, and community effectively - skills that will help them develop and execute a powerful economic justice campaign in Spring 2025! We can’t wait to see how they will harness their talents to drive change and empower their peers and communities! 🖍 Back to Back Drawing: Participants paired up in teams, with one person as the "Director" describing an image and the other as the "Artist" drawing based solely on those descriptions. It was a powerful reminder that even when we think we're being clear, everyone interprets ideas differently—and that’s okay! 🍝 Spaghetti Challenge: Teams designed and built structures using spaghetti and marshmallows! This activity focused on collaboration, problem-solving, and testing and improving ideas.
