  • CONVERSATION: What can we do beyond a cash infusion to help entrepreneurs' business perform better and last longer? I've been reading the posts and watching the videos of this dude on IG who has been popping up and blessing people's businesses by created flash mob style buying experiences. They've been helping to bring a cash infusion into struggling businesses. I have two thoughts on this. First, this is incredibly philanthropic and in this time so greatly needed and appreciated by small businesses. I wish this could be replicated with this online space. Let's be real, a lot of folks out here saying "I support, I support" then don't even so much as share a post or make a referral. I share posts, tag folks, make real life introductions and buy from businesses. Some I even barter with if it's right.But watching this gentleman makes me want to up my own game to help support folks. Second, we have to get down to the "why" of this. And this is probably where some folks will get mad at me. I don't care. WHY are their businesses struggling? Is it merely lack of customers? Is it bad business practices? What it is? Will after this brief cash infusion, they find themselves back to square one? Are they seeking out help to course correct? Are they even open to being audited to see where the holes are? Do they even know to ask for that? Business is a contact sport. There are so many variables and factors as to why a business is not working. Sometimes all they need is a cash infusion. Sometimes a cash infusion is the worst thing you can give some people because if they don't have the foundation of business literacy, they'll find themselves back to square one. We can all raise the usual points or shall I say boogiemen: economy, nobody's buying, people are cheap, social media ain't working, and so on.But dig deep into a situation and you'll find not only the problem, but also various solutions...if you want to. Philanthropy is always a beautiful thing. And we need more of it in this world. But BUSINESS LITERACY is as important as FINANCIAL LITERACY. Entrepreneurship isn't for everyone. But for those who choose it, it takes your left and right brain to function in unison to make it work. <---read that again. I'm selling some stuff, just not in this post. I want true, genuine dialog.

  • A lot of CEOs fear hiring because they fear the burden of responsibility. I know some CEOs who were 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 when they first started talking about hiring for their companies. Their brains defaulted to "𝐼 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑠𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑓𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑚𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑓𝑓 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠", or "𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝐼 𝑎𝑓𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑖𝑡?", or "𝐼 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑖𝑓 𝐼'𝑙𝑙 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚".
