About us

The Mayberg Foundation is dedicated to proliferating Jewish wisdom and values in the contemporary world. We are a family foundation with operating and grantmaking programs reflecting a high impact, entrepreneurial approach to philanthropy. Our Trustees and staff are deeply involved in many issues and initiatives impacting how future generations will sustain Jewish values, literacy, practice and belief. We seek to create a vibrant Jewish future that is firmly rooted in foundational Jewish principles and inclusive of diverse perspectives. This requires making Judaism available to all Jews, educating and inspiring our next generation, and ensuring that the Jewish homeland is secure, prosperous and healthy. Our core values guide the way we approach philanthropy and our grant making process. These values include: Entrepreneurial Philanthropy, Foundational Judaism, Connectedness of all Jews, and Collective Effort.

  • The recent Global Winter Conference hosted Lifnai Vlifnim, a Jewish Education Innovation Challenge (JEIC) and Mayberg Foundation partner, had a profound impact on Mayberg Foundation Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs Rachel Abrahams. It reminded her how important our investment in Jewish day schools, and especially our educators' professional development, is to the future of Jewish life.

Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs - Mayberg Foundation/JEIC - Jewish Education Innovation Challenge

What am I taking with me after two days of the Lifnai V'Lifnim Global winter conference? The importance of investing in our school faculty and leadership, nurturing them religiously, spiritually, and professionally. If we want teachers to inspire our students they must continue to feel inspired. It's amazing to see over 100 educators from around the world come together to consider the spiritual growth of their students. Thank you to Yehuda Chanales ישי זינגר Rav Dov Singer and his wife Iris Singer and all of Makor Chaim Institutions staff. Thanks as well to Mayberg Foundation partners, UnitEd Jewish Education and The Pincus Fund for Jewish Education.

  • Celebrate Chanukah Loud and Proud! This year, #Chanukah overlaps with Christmas and New Year’s—so how do we make it stand out? In this video, Rabbi Dr. Benji Levy explores how Chanukah has always been about standing strong, from the Maccabees resisting assimilation to our task today of celebrating resilience and tradition.  Amid rising antisemitism and the pull of vacation distractions, the menorah’s light reminds us to lean into our heritage and foundational Jewish values, honor our story, and proudly shine our menorah lights—whether at home, on the slopes, or by the beach.  ✨ Let the miracle of eight nights inspire you. Watch now and celebrate Chanukah loud and proud! 🕎

  • Mazal tov to Mayberg Foundation Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs Rachel Abrahams on being recognized by her colleagues for her "unwavering commitment to empathy in her work” at a recent gathering of professionals in Jewish grantmaking hosted by Kerem and in partnership with Jewish Funders Network. Rachel's colleagues praise her for "ensuring that the voices of grantees are not only heard but respected and prioritized. She fosters trust through a deep commitment to transparency, both within her organization and with external partners. • "When you give birth to a child, you envision their future—what they'll become and experience. But when you have a child with special needs, those dreams shift. The reality is different, and your hopes are tempered with a quiet kind of prayer. The dreams you once held become a new vision—one that is shaped by the unique needs of your child and the kind of support they require. Today, one of those prayers was answered." Mayberg Foundation Trustee Engagement Officer Shelley Kramm shared these words of profound gratitude at the dedication of her daughter's new home, Bayit Mayberg. Like all Makom community living residences, Bayit Mayberg will provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities the support they need to live independent and successful lives. This touching dedication concluded with Mayberg Foundation Trustees Manette and Louis Mayberg blessing Hadley’s new home by putting up a mezuzah provided by MyZuzah, another Mayberg Foundation partner. Shabbat shalom!

  • Mayberg Foundation Executive Director Todd J. Sukol and Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs Rachel Abrahams were among the 2,000+ Jewish communal leaders, philanthropists, and professionals from North America and Israel at the Jewish Federations of North America's (JFNA) General Assembly earlier this week. While there, they met with many of the Mayberg Foundation's strategic partners and reconnected with many colleagues and friends. Todd and Rachel attended a session that addressed the future of Jewish day schools, organized by JFNA and Mayberg Foundation/Jewish Education Innovation Challenge partners Prizmah, UnitEd Jewish Education, and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs. "There were a lot of committed people in the room, all concerned about increased investment in Jewish day schools," said Rachel. "We have a lot of work to do but together we can succeed!"

  • "The most important contribution you will make in your lifetime is helping fellow human beings. It is the most gratifying experience you will ever have. It will expand your heart." —Bernie Marcus The Mayberg Foundation mourns the loss of Home Depot co-founder and visionary philanthropist, Bernie Marcus. He and his wife, Billi, enriched Jewish life in America and Israel, supporting Jewish initiatives across the religious and political spectrum, in addition to supporting numerous other social, humanitarian and political causes. Bernie's philanthropic impact will be felt for generations to come.
