Spoke with a PRODUCER yesterday from a super OLD SCHOOL AGENCY with the following question: …….. I keep hearing all this talk about BORs, but I can’t wrap my mind around it. What’s all the fuss about? …….. My response: Everybody raves about them because they sound sexy. The reality is: Every deal is different—so as usual—it depends. If the incumbent carrier is a direct writer or a market you (the prospective agent) don’t have, then BORs are irrelevant. But if you do have access to the incumbent market—in our humble but correct opinion—it’s best to get the BOR. → Now you control the account → Now you can leverage the carriers → Now you’ve uncoupled from the markets Like their CPA or Legal Counsel: You want them to hire YOU as a strategic advisor. You’re not an imposter if you don’t have all the answers. You just need to be able to find them. Anybody that tells you they have all the answers is lying. We’re all learning as we go.

Just read a fascinating stat: “91% of customers say they'd give referrals. Yet, only 11% of salespeople ever ask for them.” Once again, closed mouths don’t get fed. Always👏🏼be👏🏼asking👏🏼: “Know anybody else that might need help?” That’s all it takes.
