Over 80 decrees have been issued against Afghan women and girls, denying them the ability to: ☑️ speak in public ☑️ receive education after the age of 12 ☑️ work in government offices ☑️ go to parks As the Taliban enforces repressive and patriarchal rules, Afghan women continue to resist despite the threat of arrest, torture, and sexual violence. Afghan organizers are calling on the international community to recognize their experiences for what it is: gender apartheid. Afghan women and girls have a long history of resilience in the fight for gender justice. Through our work with our partners, we amplify their voices and report how the Taliban's actions amount to gender persecution. In one of our recent publications, we profile Afghan women organizers who tell their stories of resistance and share their visions for the future. "If the international community does nothing else to secure the rights of Afghan women, it should at least recognize this gender apartheid in Afghanistan." Offering care and resources amid ongoing and escalating crises can strain the grassroots initiatives building opportunities. In Haiti, local organizations, like our partners at NÈGÈS MAWON, are providing vital support to communities in the face of growing gang violence and an exodus of international aid agencies. They deserve continued assistance. For centuries, communities have united in survival, solidarity, care, and radical movement building. In the face of repression, there is always a constant: courage. On #HumanRightsDay, we honor all game changers who are building better and safer ways forward. Thank you.

Haiti's transitional government has consistently failed women and girls, undermining efforts to restore lasting security and violating both Haiti's constitution and international law. Along with the Bureau des Avocats Internationaux and the Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti (IJDH), we demand immediate corrective action. https://lnkd.in/eEz-pSTu
