  • Take a Break from Your Resolutions and Reflect on What You’ve Done New Year’s Eve is a unique moment—a point where time seems to converge. We think back to the resolutions we made this time last year and consider the promises we made to ourselves. Did our goals fizzle out in the first few weeks? Did we stick with them? We reflect on how our lives have changed and how, in some ways, they’ve stayed the same. But through it all, one thing remains constant: We dare to hope. I recently came across a quote about New Year’s that claimed, “Everything begins with a dream.” It sounded lovely at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how wrong it was. Dreams are the easy part. The real beginning happens when you intervene. It starts when you take action. Looking back on my year, I had plenty of dreams for Law Firm Alchemy. Even now, I’m envisioning the transformative impact we’ll have in 2024 with the Genesis Mastermind and our brand-new Catalyst program. (Spoiler alert: You’re going to want to sign up!) But dreaming is the easy part. What I celebrate today is the action I took to get here—to a place that’s almost unrecognizable compared to a year ago. Here’s what I’ve accomplished this year: - I’ve launched courses packed with cutting-edge strategies to grow your law firm. - I built an elite mastermind filled with some of the brightest legal minds in the country. - I created another mastermind focused on accessibility and cost, sharing these lessons with even more law firm entrepreneurs. - And, of course, I launched my podcast. Since it’s New Year’s Eve, I thought it’d be the perfect time to revisit one of my first episodes and share it with you again. The last day of the year is a time to reflect. It’s also a time to dare to hope. One of my favorite guests, Jan Roos, offered advice that’s invaluable any day of the year. Today, while you’re reflecting, I hope you’ll listen. For New Year’s, we’re bringing back one of our most popular podcast episodes and sharing a free gift with you in the show notes. In this episode, Jan Roos, founder of CaseFuel, delivers an incredible discussion on how firms can extract more value from every lead. Tune in as two marketing and conversion enthusiasts talk shop—and don’t miss the unique insights Jan gained from his time living in Barcelona. Find the link in the comments and claim your free gift in the show notes. Today, think about how you will take action to turn your dreams into reality. Wishing you a safe and happy New Year! – Charley

  • There’s a powerful secret which, when executed well, can REVOLUTIONIZE your follow-up game and transform the way you handle B2B marketing. Far too many entrepreneurs clip their own wings when it comes to follow-up because they’re paralyzed by the anxiety of “being annoying.” We get it—putting yourself out there again and again, especially when you’re not hearing anything back, can be wildly uncomfortable. But do you want to know the secret? It’s all about rhythm. If your follow-up strategy looks like random, sporadic emails scattered across unpredictable timelines, you’re essentially invisible to your audience. And when it finally comes time for them to choose the right attorney? They won’t remember you. But a single email, delivered once a week at the same time every week, shifts everything. You become expected. Trusted. Familiar. When you knock, they’ll already be waiting at the door. Consistency and rhythm—it really is that simple. Speaking of simplicity, our friend Carrie Flynn, Marketing Strategist and Consultant of Virtual Simplicity joined us this week to share actionable strategies for scaling your business in sustainable, stress-free ways. Carrie specializes in proven, no-nonsense methods to grow businesses with an emphasis on sustainability over fleeting trends. In this conversation, she breaks down: - Automating your follow-up (so you’re not glued to your inbox). - Plug-and-play strategies to eliminate the chaos from referral marketing. - The dual power of brand and direct-response marketing. - Identifying your biggest opportunities for growth (and knowing exactly where to focus your time and energy). ...and much more. If you’re ready to take the stress out of your marketing and turn follow-up from a chore into a revenue-driving system, this is the episode you can’t miss.

  • It takes a hell of a lot more than courage to start a law firm amidst the threat of a recession. It takes grit. It takes pragmatism. It takes a closet full of bespoke, well-tailored suits. Alright, maybe not a closet full. Maybe just one Or none, if you’ve got the first two in surplus. Marco Brown just has me spiraling with suit envy. This week, Marco and I have a no-holds-barred conversation and how Law Firm Owners can stop “just getting by” and start GETTING PAID. You’re already putting in the work, it’s time you have something to show for it.   Marco comes in hot and lays out the strategies to get paid and thrive in the legal industry, all while staying aligned with your values. He delivers well-tailored, A-class advice on how a law firm entrepreneur can grow against any opposition, including: - The steps, and chapters, to scaling your firm. - Balancing aspirational wisdom with pragmatic wisdom. - Changing your mindset about money. - Stacking your firm with the BEST talent. And more! Check out the link in the comments. Listen to this episode. Make more money. Stack some dollars for your new suit budget. You’re gonna need it where you’re going.

  • What do Post Malone, Jellyroll, and legal marketing have in common? More than you think. I remember seeing Post Malone and, at first glance, writing him off. He wasn’t my scene.  He wasn’t my genre.  He didn’t speak to me. There was no conceivable way he was putting something out there to mesh with the sort of music I like. The sort of stuff that speaks to me. Then my wife would catch me bobbing my head to something on the radio and, with a knowing smile the best wives do too well, would say, “Hey Charley, you know this is a Post Malone song, right?” I was speechless which, anyone who knows me knows, is a rare thing. Just like that in spite of myself, and in spite of appearances, I’m a fan of Post Malone. Just like that… He was my scene.  He was my genre. He spoke to me. Here’s where they tie into legal marketing. Authenticity transcends bias. When people are brave enough to be vulnerable, to be their most authentic selves, it speaks to us. We can suddenly see how we fit with them, by the genuine ways they show who they are. The core of building an effective legal brand is finding clear ways to authentically show yourself to the world, and how YOU can offer something no one else can. If you want some ideas about how to do it, check out a recent conversation I had with Jason Epstein. Jason Epstein, from Premier Law, takes off the armor and the gloves for a conversation about how to bring authenticity, altruism, AND profit to your firm. His grounded strategies are applicable to any business, but when executed well with law firms lead to real growth and huge profitability. Jason lays out: - Ways to prepare for private equity's role in the future of legal entrepreneurship. - Unlocking the next multiple in the value of your firm.  - Dynamic methods to adopt an entrepreneur FIRST mindset.  - Tactics to DELEGATE and ELEVATE within your practice. And More! Check out the link in the comments. Put more of YOU in your firm. I’m not saying go out and get a face tattoo, but maybe be gentler with yourself next time you want to wear jeans to the office.
