"There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise." - W.E.B Dubois 🎀💪🏼👑 This past week, a group of 17 remarkable women from across all of our brands attended the annual Women of Hospitality Conference hosted by the Delaware Restaurant Association at The Queen in Wilmington. This empowering event, founded in 2019, gathers women from all corners of the hospitality industry and beyond—including restaurants, hotels, catering, tourism, and more—to foster mentorship, education, and meaningful connections. Our team joined a full day of inspiring seminars, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities designed to empower women at all stages of their careers. The event opened with welcome remarks, including a video message from Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester and words of inspiration from Miss Delaware Teen USA, Kayla Kosmalski. The day’s highlights included leadership lessons from industry trailblazers, a keynote conversation with Jenny Just, self-made billionaire and co-founder of PEAK6, sharing how poker tactics can translate to mastering life skills, and interactive breakout sessions covering topics like financial independence, building mentor relationships, and thriving under pressure. We’re proud of our team’s participation in this inspiring event, and we can’t wait to see how they apply the skills and connections gained to grow both personally and professionally! The Best Work Family By Par 🏌🏼♂️⛳️🏌🏼♀️ No ifs, ands or putts about it...the 2024 Ryder Cup was one for the memory books! This past week, we hosted our annual La Vida Ryder Cup Golf Tournament in Delaware. A group of our Myrtle Beach staff made the trip up north to face off in a 2-day 12v12 golf tournament and it was an incredible two days to say the least! Between gorgeous weather, immaculate golf courses, silky swings, and lots of team bonding and memories made, we're thankful for everyone who participated and made this week possible. Special congrats to Team South for taking home the Ryder Cup trophy! Who will be victorious next year? Only time will tell... but for now we know one thing, and that's the fact that our team knows how to parTEE and have a great time - both at work, and on the greens. This past week, managers from each of our La Vida brands took time out of the daily grind to attend the Delaware Restaurant Association's 2024 Hospitality Ambassador Bootcamp at Kings Creek Country Club! Being in the hospitality industry, we're always looking for ways to sharpen our skills, soak in new knowledge, and refine the craft that is so near and dear to us as a hospitality group. Teams Who Shred Together Stay Together! Last week, 90+ of our Delaware team members got to trade their non-slip shoes & aprons for goggles & snow gear for a trip to the Poconos! Our crew hit the slopes at Bear Creek Mountain for a day full of skiing, snowboarding, camaraderie, laughs, and the absolute best of times. It's always great when we can take time from the daily grind to enjoy each other's company outside of work, especially when that escape involves adventure - something we're super fond of here at La Vida.
