  • 🌟 The countdown continues! Windlift, winner of the 2023 K Street Capital Most Promising New Company award, is showing exactly why they’re a leader in their class, and we couldn't be more excited for Rob Creighton and his team! Recently, they showcased their progress with an upgraded aircraft which autonomously maintained stability, dynamically adjusted to shifting wind directions, and provided groundbreaking data on power output, controls, and tether drag. These advancements are setting the stage for even more powerful and efficient systems in the future. Check out the video here! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dkv4Gg77

Nothing disrupts building momentum like litigation. Gregory Vetter learned this firsthand while building Tessemae's. You’re pouring money into legal fees, hoping for resolution, but more often than not, it’s just a tactic to wear you down. That’s when your survival instincts as an entrepreneur have to kick in. The distractions, the financial strain, the mental toll—it’s all designed to exhaust you. And yet, for founders like Greg, it’s about finding a way to endure, adapt, and keep the vision alive despite the odds.

When Gregory Vetter took on Tessemae's debt, he knew there was no other way. The business couldn’t be sold with that hanging over it, so he stepped up, saying, “I’ll stabilize it, renegotiate everything.” He had tough conversations with retailers and suppliers, offering them a choice—nothing or getting the business back on track. Fast forward to today, the business is thriving—stable, profitable, and growing—a true reflection of the American dream. Greg’s story of grit is the perfect close to Season 2. Full episode in the comments.

  • Each year, K Street Capital recognizes the incredible achievements of three companies in our portfolio that have demonstrated exceptional growth, impact, and resilience:  🏆 The Best Performing Company award: Recognizes the company with the highest portfolio returns, reflecting the most significant valuation increase since its inception.  🏆 The Most Promising New Company award: Highlights the company we believe to have the greatest potential for success among those invested in over the past year. This could be based on revenue traction, securing a major partnership, winning intellectual property, or similar milestones.  🏆 The K Street Choice Award: Celebrates the company that the internal K Street Capital team is most proud of, acknowledging their achievement of overcoming extraordinary challenges or executing a strategic pivot to successfully navigate a crisis. In just 7 days, we’ll be unveiling the recipients of our 2024 K Street Capital Awards! As we wrap up Season 2 of High Stakes, all about exits, who better to close it out with than Gregory Vetter? Greg built one of the nation’s most iconic condiment brands—Tessemae's. Founded as a family-run business, it was valued at north of $300M at its peak. We delved into his journey building the brand, the post-COVID hurdles, litigation, filing for Chapter 11, and his new book, “Undressed: The Unfiltered Story of My Failed American Dream and How It Led to Success”. A big thank you to all our listeners and to Greg for joining me! That’s a wrap for Season 2! Watch our full conversation—links are in the comments.

  • We're excited to share that K Street Capital has invested in Carbon Country! At Carbon Country, co-founders Mark Smith and Josh Phelps are assembling a portfolio of pastureland that will generate income from the essential commodities of today and tomorrow: food, renewable energy and carbon. Their focus on Agrivoltaics (solar over agriculture) has the ability to unlock the value of struggling small/medium-sized ranches. Stacking regenerative agriculture and carbon removal also turns pasture land into a uniquely valuable real asset. Mark and Josh are doing some incredible things, and we're glad to be part of their journey!
