About us
Keneya Ni Kalan Institute (KNIKI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to removing barriers to healthcare & education in underserved communities. Through strategic partnerships, we ensure local empowerment and timely and effective delivery of care. Kniki was established in 2012 to address the needs of underserved communities, stemming from personal tragedies experienced by Baissou. In 2008, his father passed away due to the unavailability of transportation from his village to the hospital in the capital. Similarly, in 2019, Baissou's younger brother, lost his life during a transfer to another hospital when the ambulance broke down en route. These untimely deaths epitomize one of the most profound injustices in our world. As such, Kniki is steadfast in its mission to prevent premature deaths. Vision We envision a world of hope, inclusion, justice, and equity where the most vulnerable, especially children, women, and elders in underserved communities have basic human rights and receive timely and proper healthcare and education. Mission Kniki believes that we can best serve through local empowerment. Our mission is to promote inclusive, equitable healthcare systems by integrating Community Health Workers Models, Emergency Medical Services, and health education through partnership. Values Kniki’s core values are rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, meaning “I am Because You Are”. We believe that there is humanity in everyone and that we are interconnected and interdependent. We value humanity through solidarity and balance. We are justice-driven and committed to redressing the inequalities in healthcare systems. We embrace the spirit of Ubuntu which resides in all of us. We believe that Kniki and the communities we serve are bound to one another. We are because You are! Kniki is Because You Are!

🚨 Calling All Hospitals, Paramedic Services, and EMS Agencies! 🚨 In Mali, medical responders are on the frontlines, providing critical care to their communities—just like you do every day. But they need your help to continue their life-saving mission. With your support, we can equip them with the tools they desperately need to improve patient outcomes and expand access to vital healthcare services. KNIKI is accepting donations of used and decommissioned medical equipment as well as financial contributions to support responders in rural Mali. Your generosity will help ensure they can continue providing high-quality care in their communities. What’s urgently needed? Isolettes to provide specialized care for newborns Hospital beds for comfortable, safe patient care Sonogram equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities Decommissioned ambulances to ensure timely patient transport In addition to equipment, financial support is also essential to help cover shipping, equipment maintenance, and ongoing operational costs. Your monetary contribution will directly support the mission to equip responders and expand healthcare access to underserved populations in Mali. Every donation, whether equipment or funds, will help strengthen the healthcare system in Mali and ensure more lives are saved.
