We were thrilled to visit our friends at the New York Stock Exchange this week. Walking onto the trading floor felt like a full-circle moment in our journey as an entrepreneur. I (Mike) vividly remember visiting the NYSE as a kid with my stepfather, awestruck by the energy, the shouting traders, and the sheer magnitude of the world's financial heart. Back then, I could only imagine what it would mean to one day engage with this historic institution in a meaningful way. Fast forward and I’ve had many great moments at the exchange. I served on the leadership team of a NYSE company, Salesforce. And have been a part of several IPOs as an investor. Returning now to discuss our book, Shoveling $H!T: A Love Story, and reflect on the entrepreneurial journey was surreal. The NYSE, founded in 1792, isn’t just a stock exchange—it’s a symbol of possibility and ambition. It represents the countless entrepreneurs who dared to dream big, faced obstacles head-on, and took their companies public, turning visions into reality. It is the light at the top of the mountain entrepreneurs strive to reach. For us, it’s a reminder of the grit and resilience required to build something from the ground up and the limitless potential when that hard work and all the shoveling of $H!T pays off.
