Congratulations to Citizens for receiving the Bronze U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award. We at Junior Achievement appreciate your commitment to #volunteerism. We were able to present the award to Rhode Island State President Keith Kelly and the Citizens volunteers including current board member Scott Dingus at #JAInspireRI last week. We have had some amazing Citizens Bank volunteers this year. In addition to being a sponsor for JA Inspire and having a booth to introduce students to careers in banking, Citizens volunteers joined us at two different schools and hosted high school students at their Johnston headquarters. Thank you for teaching #financialliteracy, #workreadiness, and #entrepreneurship to the youth of Rhode Island.

Today we had a great morning with PosiGen volunteers at Asa Messer Elementary School in Providence Public Schools We were joined by nine volunteers in a total of seven 3rd and 4th grade classrooms delivering a special JA Career Speaker Series focused on renewable resources and energy. The program used Charlie Plants a Garden to share with students the power they have to positivity impact their communities and how a young person like themselves can bring sustainable produce to their community. It also showed students that as community members, they can be problem solvers and young entrepreneurs. After reading the book, PosiGen volunteers shared more about their work and company with students, in order to introduce them to careers in solar and renewable energy. Much thanks to principal Henderson and the entire Asa Messer Elementary School team and the volunteers from Posigen for helping to make today's event great!
