J2 Ventures is pleased to announce that Master Chief Petty Officer Adam Briley will be joining as our inaugural Defense Fellow! The J2 Defense Fellow is a one-year role designed to support outstanding individuals from the defense and intelligence communities, showcasing J2’s commitment to national security while benefiting from the operational expertise they bring.
Adam shares his journey in his own words:
"'You know what would be a good idea?' and 'If we only had…' are two of the most common statements in a special operations team room. Toward the end of my 24-year Navy SEAL career, I wanted to stop asking questions and start finding solutions by transitioning from operational leadership roles into research and development position for the U.S. Special Operations Command. There, I led technology teams to ensure mission success and safeguard special operators. My role also allowed me to collaborate with startups on product development, funding strategies, and transition pathways.
Aside from the military, I've had the privilege of advising student teams MIT, Harvard, and the U.S. service academies on defense prototypes and hold board positions with non-profit organizations that assist special operators in transitioning into civilian careers. I have an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a Master's in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
Becoming a J2 Defense Fellow is an immense opportunity that will allow me to continue my commitment to serving our warfighters by learning from and contributing to an incredible team focused on delivering value to national security."
