  • IWPR’s year-end giving campaign is underway!  By making a tax-deductible gift today, you ensure that IWPR can continue to provide credible, evidence-based research to advance policies that will make women’s lives better. Our work addresses the most pressing issues for women in the United States, including: — Closing the gender wage gap and ensuring women are paid equally for their work.  — Advancing paid sick and family leave and access to high-quality child care.  — Supporting the needs of student parents and improving women’s access to apprenticeships that lead to high-paying careers.  — Highlighting the economic impacts of abortion restrictions, the maternal health crisis, and the racial disparities impeding health care that negatively impact women of color. We know the incoming Trump administration will make this work more challenging than ever before. But IWPR will not back down. Your support will allow us to continue the fight to protect and advance women’s rights and security. And when you donate today, your tax-deductible gift will be matched dollar for dollar by our Board of Directors – up to $12,000! Give today! https://lnkd.in/eziYVq82

  • This year has shown us that America still has a long way to go in the fight for gender equity. But IWPR will not back down. At IWPR, we are committed to a simple yet profound goal: the full participation of women in society and the dismantling of inequities that have prevented our nation from achieving that goal for centuries. By making a tax-deductible donation today, you enable us to continue producing ground-breaking research that informs policy advancements on some of the most pressing issues for women and families, including economic equity, reproductive justice, and dignity in caregiving. And, when you donate between now and December 31, your gift will be matched by IWPR’s Board of Directors—up to $12,000! Thank you for standing with us in the fight for gender equity. https://lnkd.in/eziYVq82

  • 🚨 New Report! Black women social workers are the backbone of a more empathetic and equitable society, yet they face significant barriers like pay inequities, student debt, licensure disparities, and burnout. These challenges not only impact their livelihoods but also limit the diversity and inclusivity of the social work field. Our latest brief dives deep into these disparities and highlights the urgent need to support Black women in social work to advance racial and gender equity across society. • “Almost every American has worked for tips at least once in their life. And IWPR’s report confirms what all those workers already know: it's almost impossible to make ends meet when your income consists of a pitiful minimum wage plus tips. This is especially true for women,” said Dr. Jamila K. Taylor, president and CEO of IWPR. “The tipped minimum wage is rooted in our nation’s dark racist and misogynist history. It’s time for our country to abolish this failed employment model.” Read our new fact sheet exposing the human cost of the federal tipped minimum wage, which has remained frozen at $2.13 per hour since 1991: https://lnkd.in/dpmNNGnd

  • Walmart’s decision to scale back its DEI policies is a troubling signal, particularly as the need for greater workplace inclusion has never been more urgent. With millions of employees, many of whom are women and people of color, the company has a responsibility to lead in fostering an equitable workplace. With Black Friday approaching, the timing of this decision is especially critical, as businesses gear up for the year's biggest shopping period. The impact of this move will reverberate not only through Walmart’s workforce but also in how the company is perceived by consumers. By rolling back these DEI initiatives, Walmart risks reinforcing long-standing barriers that hinder marginalized groups from advancing. The research is clear, inclusive workplaces are not only fairer, but are proven to boost employee morale, productivity, and innovation, and companies that invest in these areas see long-term success. At IWPR, we strongly believe that investing in DEI isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s essential for building long-term business success and creating a thriving economy for all. We hope Walmart will reconsider its decision and re-invest in its commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion for all its workers.
