We equip adults to empower youth to eradicate exploitation.
About us
www.iEmpathize.org We evoke empathy and empower people to eradicate child exploitation. With a culture of collaboration, we move our mission forward through a host of creative partners, committed volunteers, and strategic outreach partnerships. Our projects have spanned the globe with most of our work focused in the US and Mexico. Empathy - To empathize is to understand and actively respond to the suffering of others. Empathy inspires movements that shift cultural perspectives and lead toward the end of child exploitation. Prevention - Preventing child exploitation in its many forms, including human trafficking, is our top priority. By addressing the fundamental elements that lead to exploitation, we can prevent it. Empowerment - Because we all intersect with child exploitation, whether directly or indirectly, each of us has a responsibility to act. We help people identify how and where they intersect with this issue and equip them with tools and opportunities to respond. Media - Multimedia is a tool through which we authenticate the issue of child exploitation. We use original media as a catalyst to inspire empathy, to educate, and to empower a wide range of people and strategic demographics. Survivors - Survivors guide the methodology of our content and participate in our programs. Because solutions to this issue must be survivor-centered, we look to them as our compass and inspiration.

Thanks Fire-Dex!
We’re a proud new sponsor of iEmpathize, a non-profit organization that aims to equip adults and empower youth to eradicate exploitation. iEmpathize offers courses to help prevent and identify exploitation, with one made specifically for first responders. The First Responder Training is designed to address human trafficking specifically from the unique perspective of a firefighter, EMT, paramedic and 911 dispatcher. As a supporter and sponsor, we encourage fire departments to explore and sign up for this FREE training to get the tools and equip their teams to identify, report and respond to this issue in their own unique context. 👉🔗https://bit.ly/3MZJAp9

Meet TJ, a Risk Manager and licensed attorney in Los Angeles. TJ is part of a multi-disciplinary team at Cedars-Sinai that trains healthcare providers and staff about human trafficking and how to recognize it in the hospital setting. TJ never suspected she’d intersect with human trafficking in an affluent area like Beverly Hills. But residential brothels are everywhere. TJ was first exposed to the issue when she was a student at California Western School of Law. The professor assigned a project that ultimately led her team to learn about human trafficking in the San Diego area (both labor and sex) and the benefits of a multi-disciplinary approach to solving the issue. Empathy is TJ’s motivation for this issue. As a young girl with low self-esteem, she recognizes how that made her vulnerable to traffickers' grooming tactics. She considers herself lucky and wants to help protect others from falling into this cycle. TJ learned about iEmpathize and its Empower Youth Program (EYP) through the Los Angeles Regional Task Force and witnessed EYP in action at a Long Beach middle school. “The training was well-organized and thought out and used explanations of apathy, sympathy, and empathy to work up to trafficking and what that means. I remember getting goosebumps in the class when the children were working through their final assignment, and the profound insights that were visible in the children by the end of the three days.” TJ applied a grassroots effort to educate about human trafficking and how prevalent it is, which created awareness of the issue and what to look for. As the doctors and nurses started to see red flags and word started to spread, interest in training healthcare providers increased and expanded. She accepted an opportunity at Cedars-Sinai to create training around this issue. It aligned with her heart, and it’s been a labor of love. TJ’s Advice Within the Healthcare Field: In healthcare, it is crucially important for all providers and employees to be familiar with the red flags that victims display. Many red flags can look like situations of interpersonal violence, so it is important for providers to know how to build rapport and ask the right questions. TJ has found that having a genuine interest and desire to partner with the healthcare community and share knowledge has significantly impacted the positive results they’ve experienced. iEmpathize’s partnership with Cedars-Sinai and our relationship with TJ is behind the inspiration and vision for our national "Health Cares Campaign." Thank you, TJ, for your advocacy and for bringing awareness and tools into the healthcare field where it’s so valuable and needed! #iempathize #humantraffickingawareness #antihumantrafficking #soundoffreedommovie #cedarssinai #healthcare #healthcareindustry

"We have far too often put human trafficking in this silo. Most survivors would even tell you it wasn't the trafficking that was the most traumatic event, that was a result of a lot of other issues. Let's bring the threads of these different issues together and address them at a systemic level rather than just doing band aids, technical fixes constantly. We then create systems where people would truly have more access to becoming the people they were created to be.” (karen) Irene Countryman-Roswurm, PhD, Voices of Freedom Participant #Partner2Prevent #iempathize #soundoffreedommovie #EndTrafficking #antihumantrafficking #HumanTrafficking #humantraffickingawareness #ForcedLabor #LaborTrafficking
