This Month In Ultrafine Bubbles: Could UFB's Bubbles Help Reduce Obesity? The literature on the promising science of ultrafine bubbles continues to grow and amaze. This study was published in the Journal of Functional Foods and looked at how ultrafine bubbles affected mice on high-fat diets. After ten weeks, the mice saw lower levels of total cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase, and lipopolysaccharides in their blood compared to the control group. In addition, they saw a reduction in key markers linked to better gut health. Great area for additional research.

Making life better by improving the power of water
About us
Hydrosome Labs is a Chicago-based B-to-B biotechnology company on a mission to change lives by changing water. Our technology, Hydrosome H2O, is a natural and chemical-free process that improves the power of water through the emerging science of ultrafine bubbles. The innovative process delivers active ingredients to cells more efficiently and completely with multiple applications across personal care and cosmetics, beverages, precision fermentation, and controlled environment agriculture. Uses range from helping plants grow faster and healthier with less fertilizer, improving nutrient uptake in skin care, delivering faster, longer lasting, and improved hydration in performance drinks and better yields for precision fermentation. Hydrosome H2O also allows manufacturers to do more with less, use fewer chemicals, reduce environmental impact, and shorten supply chains. The company and advisors include business and R&D execs from Fortune 500 companies like P&G, Goldman Sachs, and Nestle Health Sciences, as well as the Intercontinental Exchange, owner of the New York Stock Exchange. Excellent comprehensive article. So much potential for this emerging technology...
While other players in the nanobubbles space are focused on wastewater treatment and indoor agriculture, where tiny bubbles can deliver better nutrient absorption and higher yields, Hydrosome Labs LLC is focused on “white spaces” where other companies have not yet ventured such as fermentation, functional beverages, and skincare. #ultrafinebubbles #nanobubbles #biomanufacturing #fermentation #precisionfermentation #beveragemanufacturing #beautyproducts #skincare #microbiome #cellbiomass #sugarreduction #functionalbeverages | Bob Jacobs, President | Bryan McCleary

This Month in Ultrafine Bubbles: Can Ultrafine Bubbles Lower Cholesterol? A recent study in the Journal of Functional Foods investigated the effects of ultrafine bubbles on the process of obesity in mice under a high-fat diet (HFD). In the experimental groups, HFD-feeding mice were supplemented with nitrogen NBW (HFDN2) or hydrogen NBW (HFD-H2), while the mice fed with a standard diet (SD-C) or HFD (HFD-C) supplementation with deionized water were used as control groups. After ten weeks, the concentrations of total cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase and lipopolysaccharide in the mice serum of the HFD-N2 group were significantly lower than those in the HFD-C group. Still early, but a promising area for future research. Download the study below led by Zitao Guo, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba.

Well written summary of the recent MISTA Growth Hack that we participated in by Elaine Watson at AgFunder. The future of food is evolving and was well articulated in the article by Thierry Duvanel, director of innovation at equipment provider Bühler Group, who said: “We believe that the food of the future is going to be manufactured in the tank. It’s the second domestication of species, so it’s very important to us to be part of this story." We agree!
Biomass fermentation — which is used to produce everything from mycoprotein to DHA-packed animal feed supplements — is generally cheaper than precision fermentation because firms are harvesting the whole biomass, and skipping costly downstream processing steps needed to extract highly purified ingredients. So where are the biggest opportunities for this technology...and are big CPG companies buying into the opportunity? #alternativeprotein #altprotein #altmeat #biomassfermentation #fermentation #precisionfermentation #microbialfermentation #biomass #mycoprotein #CPG

MISTA GROWTH HACK Many thanks to the team at MISTA led by Scott May, for assembling an amazing lineup of innovators coming together for a growth hack to transform and evolve the food system. From high-growth start-ups using biomass fermentation to meet the growing needs of the food system to multinationals like Ingredion Incorporated, Givaudan, and AAK, the collaboration was inspiring, the new ideas flowing, and the possibilities endless. The future starts now.
