⏰ If you're recording subscription revenue from your Apple App Store Dashboard reports - you're overstating revenue up to 15% ⏰ Apple's reports and totals include VAT/GST in the total - so you are likely needing to record an estimate and true up monthly if you're doing it manually. Pretty cool - I asked ChatGPT about Stripe's ability to handle parent-child structures natively. I love seeing all of the rev rec automation innovation going on - but it, fundamentally, has to sit as a hub between your revenue sources and your GL. If you have one source for your contracts, billing, and payments - I'm happy for you, some of the point solutions out there for rev rec might work. But if you're a growing business and don't want to be a stick in the mud for your dynamically changing business, just having one of your multiple O2C streams automated is pretty useless - your rev rec automation fundamentally HAS to sit between all your sources of contracts, invoices, and payments. Let me know how telling sales and marketing they can't sell through Apple App Store or Google Play store next year because the rev rec solution you went with won't jive with it 😬.
