A huge thank you to the nearly 40 folks from the governor's office for coming out yesterday and helping pack snack boxes for our neighbors! GLFB is so grateful for the support of Governor Whitmer and her team, and their commitment to our mid-Michigan neighbors.

We recently received a $10,000 grant from Baskin Robbins which will go towards Weekend Kits for students in Lansing Public School District. A huge thank you to Baskin-Robbins for coming together to help feed our neighbors! Additionally, the Lansing area Baskin-Robbins are hosting a food drive! For every nonperishable food item brought into the store November 1 - 21, participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of their famous turkey ice cream cakes. All food will be donated to GLFB and there will be one winner per location.

Thank you Lansing State Journal for helping us officially kick off our season of giving! Last year we saw the biggest jump in the food insecurity rate since 2008 – and we have continued to see numbers creep up during the past 12 months. But a community like mid-Michigan is a testament to the power of joining together to fight hunger. Please give.

This year, we invited local businesses, organizations and individuals to become “Souper Supporters” of this year’s Empty Bowls event, where a $750 donation would include 10 tickets to attend the event.
