In 1969, Don and Doris Fisher opened the first Gap store on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco. They wanted to make it easier to find a great pair of jeans, and they did. Their denim and records store was a hit, and it grew to become one of the world’s most iconic brands. Today we’re represented in more than 1400 stores in over 40 countries, and online. We have headquarters in New York, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, and, of course, San Francisco. Our unique aesthetic is optimistic cool, elevated American style. Our clothes are crafted with care, with focused attention to thoughtful design. We believe in staying true to our heritage while creating what’s next. Don and Doris Fisher always wanted to “do more than sell clothes.” They wanted to support the people who ran their company, to be active in their communities, and to have a positive impact on the world. Their vision helped transform retail, and we’re still following their lead. We stand for freedom and possibility for all; we champion diverse ideas that transcend generations, geographies and genders.     Last week, we celebrated the reopening of our Gap Flatiron store in New York City to show off our newly renovated space, including updated shopping destinations dedicated to our icons - denim, khaki, and fleece - with rotating seasonal fixtures including CashSoft for all your holiday styling and gifting. You'll find nods to Gap’s original San Francisco store which opened in 1969 and sold “pants and discs,” but with special connections to the New York community through partnerships with LEGACY Records and Dashwood Books. Plus, exclusive and limited-edition merchandise featuring Gap’s original logo are already coveted pieces. Come experience the reimagined store at 156 5th Ave. Open every day from 10am-9pm.

    Last week, we launched our Extra Heavyweight Hoodie which reimagines our iconic hoodie silhouette, designed in partnership with content creator Julia Huynh. The Cut's Hanna Flanagan featured the hoodie in their recent roundup for "Best Hoodies" to shop for this season. See the full roundup down below. "Gap’s newest hoodie that launched earlier this month feels like a warm hug, thanks to the extra heavyweight fleece that’s nearly triple the weight of the brand’s standard fleece. After feeling the quality and weight of the fabric myself, I can’t believe this hoodie is under $100, because I know it’ll last for years. It’s warm and protective yet super breathable.     Introducing the official Hoodie that Hoodies. We tapped viral content creator Julia Huynh to help us reimagine Gap's iconic hoodie. Erika Everett joined Glossy to share more about the origins of Gap's first ever creator design partnership and how the brand is leading with a social-first mindset: Engaging with creators is “core to any winning marketing strategy,” Everett said, calling this collaboration unique due to its organic nature. Gap’s hoodies, which turn 30 next year, have increased in popularity over the last couple of years. In 2021, its logo hoodie, particularly in brown, became a Gen-Z fixation. “Fleece is a very important category for us. … It’s always nice to take one of those classic icons that the brand is known for and then put a twist on it.     Our latest collaboration with CULT GAIA is now live, and we hosted several activations across a few of our stores to celebrate the new limited collection.    At our Times Square, 2 Folsom and LA Grove stores, Gap Inc. teams and LA-based Gap Cardholders were invited to an exclusive early access shopping experience, witnessing the new collaboration firsthand before the official release.    Cardholders were in for a treat as they had the opportunity to meet Cult Gaia founder and designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat and learn more about how the collection came to life.    Check out the Gap x Cult Gaia on gap.com and in select Gap stores!
