Honored to support this significant milestone in the delivery of the Royal Air Force (RAF) Protector RG Mk 1 (MQ-9B) program as RAF personnel from 54 Squadron and 56 Squadron became the first to graduate as Protector crews. Based on the GA-ASI #MQ9B SkyGuardian®, Protector RG Mk1 is the next generation of #RPAS, delivering persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (ISTAR) for a variety strategic operations ranging from close air support to disaster relief. In 2024, personnel from 54 Squadron and 56 Squadron completed the inaugural Basic Phase Course for the RAF’s Protector RG Mk1. 🫡 The course took place at the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Flight Test & Training Centre in Grand Forks, North Dakota. With advanced equipment and precision strike weapons, Protector provides critical armed surveillance capability and will be able to deploy against potential adversaries around the globe. Ten years ago in December 2014, a single Predator® B/MQ-9 Reaper® remotely piloted aircraft reached a record 20,000 flight hours on a single aircraft, signifying the longest flight time of any Predator B. The milestone was achieved while performing a 17-hour combat mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
