Last month, I had the privilege of visiting Fibrazo, one of IMPAQTO Capital's portfolio companies, to see their incredible work in action. Fibrazo is on a mission to bring broadband connectivity to underserved communities, and in Cartagena, we witnessed firsthand the ripple effects of their efforts: Chatting in a humble, but impeccable livingroom, I spoke with a grandmother who shared how broadband access has transformed her grandson’s future. He can now do his homework at home, away from the streets where gangs often lure vulnerable kids. At a tiny tienda de barrio, a woman proudly told us how her sales have gone up since she started accepting digital payments—thanks to broadband. No cash? No problem. We ended our visit at a community center, where a computer lab is empowering young students to expand their horizons through online learning. These are not just stories; they are proof of how access to basic infrastructure—something many of us take for granted—can change lives. Fibrazo’s work is a reminder of what impact businesses do best: spotting the injustices in access and solving them through market-based approaches that are sustainable and scalable.
