What if your doctor could monitor your health between visits and intervene before issues escalate? Dr. Harvey Castro, MD, MBA. envisions a future where healthcare becomes more proactive than reactive. During our recent conversation, he highlighted the potential of leveraging wearables and real-time data: After-visit visibility: Imagine your doctor accessing a dashboard with your HRV, sleep patterns, and other health metrics. Proactive interventions: For patients with conditions like congestive heart failure, wearables can track critical metrics like weight fluctuations. This enables doctors to adjust medications remotely and prevent hospitalizations. Harvey Castro, MD, MBA. shared an example: By monitoring water weight gain through a scale, doctors can spot early warning signs and act quickly—adjusting medications or reaching out to the patient—before the situation requires hospitalization. This shift from reactive to proactive healthcare isn’t just about better technology; it’s about creating a system that empowers both doctors and patients to take control of health outcomes. What do you think? How can wearables and real-time data transform your experience with healthcare?

Ready to take control of your health and longevity? Start by focusing on these four key metrics: 1️⃣ HRV (Heart Rate Variability): A powerful indicator of stress and recovery. 2️⃣ Sleep Patterns: Quality rest is the foundation of overall wellness. 3️⃣ Glucose Levels: Manage blood sugar for sustained energy and metabolic health. 4️⃣ Activity Levels: Move consistently to keep your body and mind in sync. Mastering these basics isn’t just about data—it’s about building habits that lead to a healthier, longer life. According to Harvey Castro, MD, MBA., this is the future of medicine. Despite building artificial neural networks that process information like brains do, we don't have anything like brainwaves in our AI systems. This points to a deeper puzzle: neuroscience isn't sure what brainwaves are doing computationally. We know they emerge when millions of neurons fire in sync across different brain networks - like the distinctive alpha waves that arise when the cortex and thalamus communicate. But knowing where brainwaves come from hasn't revealed their purpose in how we think and process information. These synchronized rhythms remain one of the key features separating biological from artificial intelligence. Watch Dr. Toker's full explanation to understand the fundamental differences between brains and AI that we're still working to decode: https://lnkd.in/e2Sg3rpF

Scientists have discovered that tiny clusters of human brain cells grown in labs can function like biological computers. When researchers feed these "organoids" with signals, the cells naturally organize themselves to process information - no training or feedback loops needed. Unlike AI that needs explicit training, these lab-grown neural networks naturally adapt and improve their information processing over time. Just by receiving input signals, they develop more sophisticated and unique responses to different patterns. This suggests that information processing might be a fundamental property of neural tissue, emerging spontaneously when brain cells connect. Your brain finds patterns everywhere, every second, even as you read these words. But what happens in your brain when consciousness fades away? Dr. Daniel Toker, known across social media as "the brain scientist" and host of The Brain Scientist podcast, studies one of neuroscience's deepest mysteries: the boundary between consciousness and unconsciousness. Through research spanning brain organoids, meditation, and psychedelics, he's uncovering how neural patterns and complexity give rise to conscious experience. Join us for a fascinating discussion where mathematics meets the mind. Watch the full episode right here: https://lnkd.in/e2Sg3rpF

Your sleep patterns have an age - and it's probably not the one on your driver's license. AI can now analyze your sleep and tell if you're sleeping like someone years older or younger than you are. The tech looks at everything from how often your sleep gets disrupted to how quickly your body recovers throughout the night. Someone who's 30 might be sleeping like they're 47 - with choppy, fragmented sleep that's typical of older folks. Or you might be that lucky person in their 40s sleeping like a 20-year-old. Just like scientists can measure your biological age through blood work and fitness tests, they can now spot early signs of aging in your sleep patterns before they turn into deeper issues. If you're curious about what your sleep age might be, watch the full episode to learn how scientists are decoding the age hidden in your sleep patterns.
