Your brain finds patterns everywhere, every second, even as you read these words. But what happens in your brain when consciousness fades away? Dr. Daniel Toker, known across social media as "the brain scientist" and host of The Brain Scientist podcast, studies one of neuroscience's deepest mysteries: the boundary between consciousness and unconsciousness. Through research spanning brain organoids, meditation, and psychedelics, he's uncovering how neural patterns and complexity give rise to conscious experience. During my free time I'm an avid podcast listener. Lately I've been listening to Rich Roll's podcast, it has been running since 2013! In this episode Rich interviews Dr. Joel Pearson about intuition. Pearson, a cognitive neuroscientist and professor of psychology at the University of New South Wales, has been researching topics like aphantasia and intuition. In his latest book, "The Intuition Toolkit: The New Science of Knowing What without Knowing Why", Pearson approaches intuition in a practical way by offering guidance on how to utilize intuition for better decision making. How you can differentiate intuition from instinct or emotional responses, when to trust your intuition and when not, and how physical reactions ("gut feelings") may tap into information recorded by the body that the brain might not even recognize yet. PS. I'm a highly visual person and I'm able to create mental imagery easily, so I've been always fascinated by aphantasia. Joel talks a little bit about this too in this episode. https://lnkd.in/dqCMbEwm #intuition #neuroscience #aphantasia #richroll

Humans are hard wired to connect and eye contact plays a key role in facilitating this connection. “No word has to be spoken, no messages have to be communicated, but just eye contact is enough to upregulate activity in the brain...Eye contact is a fundamental driver of neural function.” Prof Joy Hirsch Joy Hirsch and the Future of Neuroscience, Explain the Brain Podcast Ep 27 https://lnkd.in/gNFgPjPa **Operationalise the Science** Business is a people process and we need to create and enjoy enduring business relationships. Try pairing eye contact with a smile. Notice how it feels. If you get a genuine smile in return you'll be boosting your brain chemistry with happy hormones. Then see what it feels like to make eye contact with no smile. Not so good, huh? What exactly is Tarot? When we pull a Tarot card, what happens? Are we tapping into some universal mystery? Or are we going inward and discovering intuition? This is just a bit of what Neuroscientist Siddharth Ramakrishnan and I talked about on this week's SolFul Connections podcast. Siddharth, a scientist, artist, professor, entrepreneur, and author shares his thoughts about Tarot cards and his own journey toward a deeper, richer, and more authentic life. I couldn't be more intrigued by this topic and Siddharth himself! His new book, The Neuroscience of Tarot is out any day (and can be pre-ordered now), and it focuses on the science and mystery of Tarot, our brains, and, ultimately, our lives. #solfulconnections #solfuliving #connections #science #neuroscience #tarot #mystery #lgbtqai #ourjourneys #livingwithsoul
