As a Board Advisor for Life Science Cares Philadelphia and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Family Center of Southern New Jersey, Inc. I felt incredibly inspired and grateful after attending two remarkable events last week. First, I had the privilege of participating in mock interviews with an outstanding group of students on the verge of graduating from the carpenter program at Orleans Technical Institute through JEVS Human Services. The craftsmanship displayed in the houses they built was truly impressive. Their attention to detail, pride in their work, and determination to secure employment after graduation were evident in every conversation. Take a look at the photos showcasing their incredible work! The week concluded with my favorite event of the year in collaboration with the Hispanic Family Center of Southern New Jersey, Inc.: a graduation celebration for the third cohort of a 16-week IT training program. This event honored some of the bravest and strongest women — all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual violence. Despite facing numerous challenges, including being single mothers, non-native speakers, and full-time employees, their dedication to the program and their desire to create better futures for themselves and their families were truly inspiring. I am immensely proud to support these programs and the incredible individuals involved. Their resilience and commitment are a testament to the power of education and community support.
