Our cocktail journey today takes us to The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star property. The F&B team, under the leadership of Riccardo Fabian Ciancilla, debuted new menu called The Traveler of the Seasons, the Spirits of the Wind. In it, Kentaro Wada, The Bar’s head bartender, aimed to showcase Japan's seasonal variety, utilizing a diverse range of ingredients. One such drink is the Usui, Rainwater Sakura Zen Sen, which highlights Japan’s springtime cherry blossom season. The cocktail base is Michter's Distillery, LLC's US-1 Kentucky straight rye, followed by Kiwamitsu honey for sweetness, Setouchi lemon for freshness and acidity, and okunoyama matcha as the finishing touch on the rim of the glass. The unique presentation features a cherry tree that releases Horii Shichimeien sencha green tea into the cocktail drop by drop.
