Fontaine Fifth Wheel is the world’s largest dedicated fifth wheel manufacturer and innovator of the only self-adjusting fifth wheel lock in the industry: the Fontaine No-Slack®. With ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified manufacturing facilities worldwide, the company divides its global organization into three operating groups: North America, South America and Europe. Fontaine Fifth Wheel North America is based in Jasper, Alabama. In addition to corporate headquarters, the Jasper campus includes the largest research and development facility in the world focused exclusively on fifth wheel coupling technology. Here, engineers refine existing product lines while imagining, designing and prototyping the fifth wheels of the future. The solutions that we offer are developed with an absolute focus on the customer and are tailored to meet the specific requirements of a wide range of standard through severe service applications. The stationary, sliding and blocked fifth wheels that we deliver feature advanced No-Slack® automatic slack adjustment. This is important for our customers because one of the main causes of fifth wheel wear is slack between the kingpin and the lock. This slack transmits shock waves throughout the chassis as the vehicle travels the highways under load. This, in turn, causes components to wear out and fail prematurely; and the constant pounding is annoying and uncomfortable for drivers. Fontaine No-Slack® technology solves this problem by adjusting fifth wheel slack automatically to achieve a snug, secure connection that accommodates for wear. Customers benefit from this advanced technology that extends product life while reducing maintenance to give fleet managers a lower operating cost per mile and drivers a smoother, more comfortable ride.

In 1996, the incredible engineers at our manufacturing facility in Matamoros, Mexico developed the design and assembly of fifth wheel brackets and rails with dedication and precision. In 1998, the plant produced the first fifth wheel with the new process. Today, we celebrate the 2 millionth fifth wheel assembled at our Matamoros location! On Friday our team celebrated this amazing accomplishment. We can't begin to thank them enough for their hard work and commitment to creating the highest quality products that keep the world connected. Please join us in congratulating our Fontaine family!
Throwback Thursday! Here are a few familiar faces from our office Christmas party a few years ago... 2002 wasn't that long ago, right? Where are they in 2024? Tom Moulton is now a Design Engineer. Karen McKee is our Senior OEM Program Manager. Aaron Puckett is the new Senior VP of Business Development. Dan Henderson is the Technical Service Coordinator.
Guess who! We'll give 3 hints: 1. He was known in the industry as "Mr. Fifth Wheel." 2. After attending Fork Union Military Acadamy, he sold highway trailers for Fruehauf Trailer Company and Great Dane Trailer Company. 3. He manufactured trailers and fifth wheels for the government during World War II.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing customers and dedicated team. To allow our team time to celebrate with their loved ones, our office will be closed Thursday and Friday this week. We will reopen Monday, Dec 2. Fontaine Fifth Wheel wishes you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!

"Keep that fifth wheel greased. Always do a tug test." - Sista Girl, Ms. Willie Hearing Tracy Rushing, CDS's story this morning was so impactful as a woman in trucking. Tracy is the Executive Director of Safety and Recruiting at R. E. Garrison Trucking. My favorite comment came from one of her long-time friends and members of her trucking family, Ms. Willie.
