Benjamin utilized down payment grants through the Native American Homeownership Initiative (NAHI) to make the homeownership dreams of Alaska Natives a reality — "Recently, CILC was able to assist a borrower in Anchorage, Alaska, who, over the course of two years, went from being unemployed and homeless to becoming a first-time homeowner. Working with FHLB Des Moines on the NAHI grant added a substantial portion of the capital stack that allowed our borrower to affordably access homeownership in a state where housing is limited and oftentimes out of reach for a substantial portion of the population."
