Exciting progress in cellular health! C15:0, the powerhouse behind fatty15, was first reported as the first essential fatty acid discovered in over 90 years back in 2020. Since then, this groundbreaking discovery has been validated by multiple independent researchers, including a recent peer-reviewed study using the gold-standard method for identifying essential vitamins and fatty acids. 🔬

Join us for our milestone 50th episode of The Metabolic Link podcast, where host Dr. Dominic D'Agostino dives deep into metabolic health through an unexpected lens: bottlenose dolphins! In this episode, we welcome Dr. Stephanie Venn-Watson, a leading veterinary epidemiologist, CEO of Seraphina Therapeutics, and co-founder of fatty15. Dr. Venn-Watson shares her groundbreaking findings from the U.S. Navy’s Marine Mammal Program, where dolphins revealed the vital role of C15:0, an odd-chain saturated fatty acid with remarkable cellular benefits — 3x more than omega-3s! Learn how this newly discovered fatty acid impacts aging, reduces inflammation, and enhances mitochondrial function for both dolphins and humans. Dr. Venn-Watson also offers intriguing insights into the future of C15:0 in human health research! Watch the full episode on YouTube with the link below or listen on your favorite podcast platform, and prepare for an exciting journey through science, the sea, and metabolic resilience! An exciting new clinical trial was just published in The Journal of Nutrition supporting that @fatty15 can treat nutritional C15:0 deficiencies and reverse Cellular Fragility Syndrome. Cellular Fragility Syndrome, caused by low C15:0 levels, is the first nutritional deficiency syndrome to be identified in over 75 years. Studies support that Cellular Fragility Syndrome may be present in as many as 1 in 3 people, leading to accelerated aging and onset of aging-related conditions. The good news is that C15:0 nutritional deficiencies can be easily identified and treated. This randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled trial included young adults (18 to 24 years old) and was led by UC San Diego. Here are the key findings from this important study: 1) 2 out of 3 study participants had C15:0 levels that met the criteria of nutritional C15:0 deficiency, 2) fatty15 safely and significantly raised C15:0 blood levels, and 3) those who achieved nutritionally sufficient C15:0 blood levels had clinically relevant evidence of reversing Cellular Fragility Syndrome, including improved liver function and red blood cell health. Go, science. Check out NutraIngredients coverage of this latest clinical trial! https://lnkd.in/gEfnuAF3

Science can often be confusing, but we don't want it to be. While we're proud of all of the research, peer-reviewed papers, and clinical trials that contribute to the science behind fatty15, we get that it can be a lot of information to digest. So, our new campaign, The Science Translator aims to fix this problem. We're taking care of the science AND the translation of this science into real-life benefits of C15:0 that you can see and feel. Watch the full video here and if you really want to nerd out on all the C15:0 science, visit DiscoverC15.com.

Fatty15 on tour! Last week, Dr. Stephanie Venn-Watson (our co-founder), was invited to speak at the Metabolic Health Summit. Dr. Steph presented the latest science and research on C15:0 and metabolic health, including three key findings from peer-reviewed studies that support fatty15's impact on our long term health and metabolism. So, what did these studies find? First, fatty15 supports our metabolic health by activating AMPK, a core glucose regulator. Second, fatty15 keeps our livers healthy by supporting healthy iron metabolism and calming immune responses. Third, a leading hypothesis is that nutritional C15:0 deficiencies may be driving the rise in poor metabolic, liver, and heart health. C15:0 levels have been continually decreasing in humans (because we’ve been eating less full fat dairy and milk), and at the same time, there has been a rise in chronic diseases, especially in younger populations. This year, we’ll be continuing to study C15:0’s impact on whole body health and how it may help prevent chronic illness.

Can C15:0 replace omega-3? Research is showing that C15:0 may be the ~essential~ essential fatty acid our bodies are looking for. When tested against omega-3 EPA, fatty15 provides 3x more reparative cell benefits in places like our hearts, joints, and immune systems. Fatty15 is pure, powdered, plant-based C15:0––a super-duper-stable healthy saturated fat with no concerns of oxidation, even when exposed to heat, light, and air. Like all oils, omega-3 is subject to oxidation, robbing benefits and potentially harming your cells in the process. All this to say, if you're looking for a plant-based, vegan alternative to your fish oil, fatty15 is a great alternative for your long-term health, with even more upsides. If you're interested in taking care of yourself, no doubt you've come across the Mediterranean diet: 🥦 Fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes 🌾 Whole grains, like brown rice 🐟 Fish and shellfish 🫒 Olive-based oils 🧀 A moderate amount of dairy 🍗 Opting for poultry over red meats 🍷 Wine with meals, sparingly This age-old eating plan has scientifically-documented benefits ranging from improving heart health to sustaining brain function. It limits sodium and refined carbohydrates, while boosting intake of antioxidants and fiber. ⚡️ And now, a new clinical trial published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reveals that adding C15:0 can supercharge the metabolic and gut health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. After 12 weeks, people taking a pure C15:0 supplement (like fatty15) while following a low-calorie Mediterranean diet saw more substantial improvements in body weight, liver health, gut microbiome, and LDL cholesterol levels than subjects focused on diet alone. Better together: Crusty bread, olive oil, and fatty15. Here's a more in-depth take on our blog, and access to the full study: bit.ly/3u4HjTO
