  • 🌎 53 Companies Unite for a Sustainable Future in Carbon Removal! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce that Everest Carbon has joined forces with 52 leading organisations to endorse the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Industry Commitments. This groundbreaking initiative sets a new standard for the carbon removal sector, reinforcing our collective dedication to combat climate change and meet the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement. 🔍 Why This Matters: The CDR Industry Commitments represent a significant moment for our industry, aligning with the scientific consensus that to achieve net zero, we must not only reduce emissions but also remove 5-10 gigatons of CO₂ annually by 2050. 🌍 Key Pillars of the Commitments: 📌 Clear Definitions: Establishing what CDR truly entails and its crucial role in climate action. 📌 Commitment to Science: Acknowledging the necessity of CDR in our climate strategies. 📌 Sustainability & Transparency: Upholding the highest standards of accountability and adherence to regulations. 📌 Public Engagement: Ensuring inclusivity and equity in carbon removal activities. 🤝 As signatories of these commitments, we are taking responsibility for the growth and integrity of the CDR sector. We invite all players in the CDR sector to join us in this shared commitment to building a future where carbon removals are done the right way, with accountability at its core. ➡ Access the Commitments: https://lnkd.in/eP7d4dh5

FEATURE: Enhanced Weathering Alliance (EWA) seeks EU certification for carbon removals This is a great article by Frédéric Simon (https://lnkd.in/gmqDAd7e) and you should absolutely subscribe to Carbon Pulse to access the full text! In the meantime, some highlights. 📰 Topline: “We want to know what are the rules for us to play the game because we know we'll do well!” 📣 What we're doing at EWA: “One of the things we’re working on is to help the European Commission develop a methodology for quantifying the carbon capture rate of EWR,” said Adam Wolf. “They want to know the science of the carbon capture for this to be a like-for-like substitution for fossil emissions over hundreds or thousands of years.” EWA is now drafting a technical report for the Commission, “so they have all the evidence they need when they decide to pick up the file”. ⏱ What we are after: “What is really hurting the industry is that there is no timeline for when these other methodologies are going to be developed,” said Sebastian Manhart. “Even if it's later, there should be some sort of timeline that we can plan with and hold the Commission accountable to.” 👩🌾 Why we are passionate advocates for ERW: “ERW easily has the potential to double profit for farmers – whether it’s through a direct payment, a cost subsidy, or a price premium” said Wolf Want to know more? 📣 🇪🇺 Calling for tech-openness in the CRCF 🇪🇺 📣 📅 Tomorrow, European negotiators will be meeting for the next #Trilogue of the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (#CRCF) - potentially the most important piece of carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) legislation in the world right now. 💡 Only an approach open to all CDR technologies will enable Europe to achieve its #netzero target. ❗At present, there are positions held by numerous negotiators that would de facto exclude a large amount of promising CDR approaches. 🔊 For this reason, we need to make our voices heard - louder than ever. 💪 An astounding 350 companies - including Carbonfuture, Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE), and US Biochar Coalition (USBC) - have signed a public letter calling for tech-openness in the CRCF, including the specific changes we need. The signatories span the entire CDR industry (and beyond), from startups to large multinationals.   🤝 Action now can have an outsized impact. Help us spread the word and make sure that negotiators are crystal clear on the position of the CDR industry. 📜 Link to the letter: https://lnkd.in/dSTUJN7p
