To meet rising energy demand, we must address the critical challenges and opportunities in the energy transition. Our recent presence at the Reuters Energy Live conference showcases ENGIE's dedication to leading in the energy sector with our expertise.   Joe Dalton, Vice President, Government & Regulatory Affairs, ENGIE, noted that energy markets are durable because of consumer demand and that power needs will grow significantly in the next decade. This growth requires a comprehensive strategy that includes clean power generation. Energy storage has had a transformative impact in #Texas over the past year. A significant 5GW of #energystorage capacity additions enhanced grid reliability during extreme weather events, avoided conservation appeals, and contributed to $750 million in cost reductions. “As storage developers and operators, we are dedicated to ensuring that Texas residents and businesses have reliable electricity," said Eric De Caluwé, Managing Director of ENGIE’s Flexible Generation for North America. Today, we have more than 1.8 GW of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in operation across the United States. While solar continues to grow at an exponential rate, countries’ solar targets are falling far short. To fully capitalize on this momentum, nations need to set higher ambitions with updated capacity targets, according to think tank Ember.   Renewable energy is consistently outperforming expectations, with prices falling, markets thriving, and technological advancements accelerating. Global efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions are falling short, with current policies putting us on track for a 2.7°C rise in global temperatures by 2100, according to the latest report from the Climate Action Tracker. This is far above the targets set by the Paris Agreement and shows the urgent need for stronger, immediate action. Despite the challenges, every fraction of a degree of warming we can prevent is crucial. At ENGIE, our ambition towards achieving Net Zero by 2045 across all scopes remains steadfast.
