🎶 Last week, the Family Resource Center hosted its first Children’s Concert in partnership with STITCCH, a music program led by high school students sharing their passion with children from low-income communities and shelters. 🌟 39 students and their families joined for a celebration filled with inspiring choir voices and beautiful violin performances. A huge thank you to Miles Yountz, Heather Yountz, and the entire STITCCH team for bringing music, smiles, and community to life every week. Last week we celebrated our first Children’s Concert! Together with the members of STITCCH, a kids teaching music program funded and taught by high school students with the mission of sharing their love, and passion for music with children from low income communities, and/ or children currently living in shelters. 39 students together with their families enjoyed a beautiful celebration hosted at the Eliot Family Resource Center a division of Eliot Community Human Services. The voices of the students from the choir and the beautiful notes of the violins lefts us of inspired and proud! Thank you Miles Yountz, Heather Yountz and the entire organization for working so hard; not only for traveling every Sunday to our communities, but for bringing your instruments, your smilies, your experiences and your friendship! This International Volunteer Day, we'd like to thank all of the hardworking volunteer groups volunteering with MSPCC this holiday season.💜 Today, our friends at Pegasystems in Waltham donated 100 Sweet Case duffel bags for kids in foster care (pictured below)! These bags provide a wholesome alternative to the standard trash bag given to children entering foster care and contain cozy blankets, a hygiene kit, a teddy bear, and engaging activities.🧸 This evening, our own Young Professional Board will be wrapping presents from MSPCC kids' holiday wishlists.🎁 Thank you for all that you do! Chelsea Public Schools’ first Newcomers Family Dinner was a beautiful celebration of community, connection, and hope for new arrival families. Students and parents came together to share a delicious meal, learn about local resources, and build relationships with one another and their school administration. We are especially proud of our Senior Director of Community Impact and Development, Liliana Patino M.Ed., who shared her personal journey as the guest speaker. Her heartfelt story about her mother’s courage and resilience serves as a powerful reminder of the possibilities that emerge from love and determination. Emotional and grateful are the words I picked to describe the experience I had celebrating with the Chelsea Public Schools first Newcomers Family Dinner. Students and parents had the opportunity to meet each other, enjoying a beautiful space were they enjoyed a delicious dinner, learned about local organizations including @CAPIC, Eliot Community Human Services - Eliot Family Resource Center and others, as well as working on building a community with their school administration. As the guest speaker I had the privilege to share my journey, a story that is not really about me but so much about my brave mother, who in the most vulnerable time of her life had to take the remarkable decision to leave her family and migrate to the United States with the hope for a better future; an act of love that changed our lives and ended multiple generational circles in our family. One more time I got to introduce myself as “Stellas daughter - La Hija de Stella”, a simple but powerful message of hope, love and possibilities; a message we all need! With a Ph.D. in Psychology from Fordham University, his expertise includes mood and anxiety disorders, suicidality, and trauma. In addition to his role at Eliot, Dr. Katz conducts cutting-edge research at Massachusetts General Hospital, focusing on reducing suicidality in patients with mood disorders. His work includes pioneering trials on prolonged exposure therapy and innovative approaches to treating bipolar disorder.
