We believe California has the resources and responsibility to address long-standing issues in both TK-12 and higher ed. But how? Every year, we outline a series of bold next steps the state can take in the form of a policy agenda. "Staying Committed to Racial Equity in Challenging Times: EdTrust-West’s 2025 Policy Agenda" charts a course for 2025, one that we’ll be advocating for in Sacramento and beyond. Making sure students of color in our state can walk into a school or college feeling welcomed and supported is our north star. That’s why we’ve spent thousands—yes, thousands—of hours in recent years engaging with communities and advising elected leaders: ✨ 1200+ webinars, listening sessions, presentations, community events, and advocacy meetings ✨ 3600+ hours advising elected officials in legislative meetings and briefings 🎉 And in the past three years, we’ve hosted two sold-out Ed Equity Forums. Check out the recap from #EdEquityForum2024! All of this work is made possible by the support of our individual donors and philanthropic partners. Hello Network! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the EdTrust-West #EdEquityHappyHour at the stunning Ramsess Art Garden in Oakland (highly recommend stopping by – you won’t be disappointed!). 🌱 A huge thank you to Christopher J. Nellum for coordinating such a fantastic event and creating an opportunity for meaningful connection! As I continue to spread my wings in the Education sector, it was both exciting and eye-opening to hear the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and stories shared by those in attendance. In these trying times, it’s more important than ever to stay connected with our community, share experiences and support one another. I’d love to connect further with anyone who attended – even if we didn’t have a chance to chat in person. Feel free to reach out! 🙂 #networking #blackownedbusiness #bayarea #fun #education

"As more people question the value of higher education, unsure whether the economic payoff is worth rising college costs, Newsom wants to streamline and coordinate state and regional efforts to prepare students and workers for high-demand jobs with more hands-on learning, job-related skills and wider access to affordable education." 📰 Read the full article here: lat.ms/3VQDmgb

It was an honor to attend my first EdTrust-West Ed Equity Happy Hour, and it couldn’t have been more special. This holiday edition brought together an inspiring group of policy advocates, higher ed and nonprofit leaders, and some truly incredible women of color. I was especially grateful for the opportunity to connect in person at Ramsess Art Garden in Oakland—a breathtaking space! Connecting in person with amazing collaborators like Karina G. Paredes, after working together virtually during the pandemic, was a wonderful surprise! I’m also incredibly thankful for time with Ria, whose unwavering support and positive energy continue to make a difference in my life. Organizations like Ed Trust West are doing impactful work when it’s needed most. Here’s to creating more time, fun, and meaningful spaces to (re)connect, thrive, and grow together in and with community! #networking #representationmatters #community

Had a great day at Emerson Collective #exchange24 program. Russlynn Ali Molly Mauer Mary Alice Miller Max Vargas really asked the questions about how we design high schools for the students of today. Thanks for letting me be in the conversation. Many thanks to Jelena Hasbrouck and Nicolle Grayson Matthews for the words to convey the pictures. #Edureimagine EdTrust
